MIDI sampler.
Oh is that where you can plug an instrument and it generates a midi file based on you playing? I remember being a lot into midi files before, there's this program called Anvil Studio and I used to make music from scratch in it. I'd have to mess around with that again, I bet Linux has lot of nice programs too.
Was also fun to take midi files and import into Orion or other similar programs.
Been wanting to transfer all the drives from my main server to the new storage server, and remap via NFS. 8pm on a day before I start a set of 12h shifts... debating on if I want to take that on now, or if it's a very bad idea. If it does not work within a few hours I'm kinda screwed with a non functioning file system and having to go to work.
Really if all goes well the longest part will be physically unscrewing them from the old trays and into the new ones. Then having to document each drive and what slot it's in. I can probably do it in under an hour. If the array comes up then I just have to export the NFS shares and map on the main server and put some symlinks and everything *should* come up ok. The new file server has a newer kernel and mdadm version so that means I can also convert the array to raid 6. I won't push my luck and do that right away though.
Yeah think I'm totally going to go for it... Time to terminate any services on the main server that is relying on the file system, so I can shut it down.
