I should buy more hard drives for my file server.
Code:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/vg_isengard-lv_root
50G 6.3G 41G 14% /
tmpfs 3.9G 0 3.9G 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sdv1 477M 162M 290M 36% /boot
/dev/mapper/vg_isengard-lv_home
53G 53M 50G 1% /home
/dev/md0 5.4T 3.5T 1.7T 68% /volumes/raid1
/dev/md1 6.3T 5.0T 1.1T 83% /volumes/raid2
/dev/md3 7.2T 1.3T 5.6T 19% /volumes/raid3
I don't like seeing usage numbers higher than 50%. Need to phase out raid2 at some point though. It's a raid 5 with 1TB drives. Could free up those slots for bigger drives. Still have like 3 slots left too in the server. 2 are physically near raid1, so I'd grow that one most likely. Not that physical location matters but I'm anal. Raid2 array is mostly just used for backups too so I could literally just remove it, and build a new array, then rerun all the backup jobs, while keeping the old drives just in case. I would probably just throw them in my removable backup pool.
I may experiment with ZFS at some point too. Using mdadm raid now. I still kind of want to set this server up as a SAN at some point too, on it's own network that plugs directly into the servers that need storage. iSCSI would be nice too if I can find a way to set it up properly on a multi host VM setup. There's something called Gluster but you pretty much need to be the head scientist at NASA to figure it out.
