"nef" is such a perfect name for this thread. Rather than scan the first page, since it's not always there apparently, all I do is type that into the search box (as wanting as the search function tends to be) and it's always the first hit. Woo-hoo. I try to celebrate the small shit in life (which, as you know, is ALL of the shit. Hehe)
I'm back to do some shitposting.
I got a big box (from Amazon so, that's a little redundant I suppose) full of foot warmers. I'm sure I must have tried these in the distant past because I recall them as being dangerous, expensive and short-lived. I'm probably wrong about all of that though. Sometimes it good that I have such a selective memory.
Anyway, checked them out on Amazon and the price wasn't bad - slightly better than my local "odd job" store. If you're not familiar, they're one step up from a dollar store and so there isn't much for a dollar. It seems the dollar stores are no longer strictly true to their name anyway. [shrug]
I started looking at these like they were bagged plutonium dust, but I got over that quickly and read the destructions - which isn't really a misnomer since you have to tear the bag open for them to work. Yes, ok, you know that.
It took them, way more than 10 minutes to heat up. Not hazarding a guess. About an hour later I hit them with thermal scanner (I want a thermal camera sooo bad but I no longer buy things I have no use for - mostly - did get one for an in-law and even he hasn't used it yet)
Temp was unstable with the scanner but settled around 97 in open air and with a fan for circulation.
I technically don't need these either but I'm sure they will be helpful at some point. I was also thinking that it would help keep the water for the feral cats liquid. Except I absolutely must bring them in before dusk. Otherwise, only higher life forms than we can ever know what the raccoons might do with them. Cats on the other hand are more like 'if it's not moving, I'm sure as f*** not moving it. Well, unless it's on a table. Then that is completely YOUR problem.
edit: (yes edit --> still going) I think the entire universe must know this by now, but cats love 'em some cardboard boxes. They're even wont to sprawl out inside a flat rectangular shape of which, only the corners are define. The cats that do that though is maybe only2/3 of all cats. It just occurred to me since our homes chock full of objects (called furniture) that are rectangular, maybe this is the genesis of that habit. The only difference is they probably know it pisses you off, so in fact, all they're doing compromising their true nature - all for you.
