As a guy I'm very good at starting a project but not finishing it.

Started on the new solar mounting setup behind the shed. Goal is to put 4 solar panels on top and also use it to store firewood. I figure it will give me around 1kw of power, but less in practice as they will be mostly flat. Best I can do with the room I have that actually gets sun. Had to leave while I was working on it so didn't get the last post in. Back to work tomorrow but I should be able to at least get that post done tomorrow after my shift.

Looks a bit rickety but lot of that stuff is temp supports.

I just put it at that angle so the snow falls off more easily and if it doesn't, it's easier to take it off. It was really hard to take snow off when they were angled with roof. Also faces west which is not ideal but best I could do given the yard/shed layout. The new array will be mostly flat which will get more sun throughout the day but also not at an optimal angle. Ideal would be vertical panels facing south, but don't really have a way to do that here and actually get sun. I don't really get much sun at ground level so they need to be high up. house roof is not ideal either, too hard to access in winter. When I setup the array on my off grid property I will probably do a vertical ground mount facing south. I already have panels here to use, but I found out of a local company here that sells bifacial 500w panels for like $200. So that's tempting.
