So I did something I've been meaning to do for a while. Tore out the carpet, or at least most of it, under my computer desk. I had originally put it there to protect the floor from the chair wheels but later on learned that you can buy different wheels made for hard wood floors. I installed them, and proceeded to cut out most of the carpet. There's just one section that's physically too hard to remove as I need to lift the desk while trying to also pull it out and it's just physically awkward to do. I will figure something for that later.
Feels so much cleaner now. I can actually vacuum this section now. My cats had been tearing up the carpet and if I tried to vacuum it, it would suck up a string and just get caught up and tangle itself in the power nozzle.
The floor does have a permanent ingrain of the carpet that is visible under light, but it's not super bad. The amount of sand that was under there was pretty crazy. Almost 15 years worth, I guess. Time flies.
At work we had these type of wheels on our chairs but then we got moved to an office that has a carpet and those wheels make the chair hard to move, so think I will swap out my work chair wheels with my old ones. Win win.
