haven't read the whole thread so this might have come up...

Are the clonetroopers early versions of the stormtroopers? It seems like that would be logical, since you can tell they were intended for the dark side's use, and will probably switch over to the dark side in epIII.

I enjoyed the movie myself

It was better than TPM but not as good as the trilogy

My only 2 complaints are:
The first chase scene went on for far too long.

And in more than a few of the scenes I felt as though G.Lucas put the scene in there with the exact thought that it would make for a good video game and less to do with a good movie

Which book takes place immediately after ROTJ?

I think that book is called The Truce at Bakura, but don't bother, it's crap.

The best Star Wars novel was Shadows of the Empire. It takes place in between Empire Strikes Back and Jedi. Then, read Timothy Zahn's trilogy. Don't bother with any of the other novels. Most of them are crap. However, I haven't read a SW book for five years and I have no idea as to what has happened since then.

Saw it. Liked it. The last third of the movie qualified it to carry the title Star Wars.

There are the obvious flaws, like the acting. And the whiney brat Anakin. You all pick on Jerboy for complaining about stuff, but Anakin was far far more annoying. But in general I had a good time, and that's what matters. And exiting the theater was a treat getting to watch the kids come out running around waving invisible lightsabers. The magic worked.

A physics geek complaint: The solar sail. Dooku/Darth Tyrannus's escape ship that took him back to Coruscant deployed a solar sail. I sat there stunned because they finally presented a ship with some viable physics. Then I realized that he used it to fly dozens if not hundreds of solar systems away. I'm pretty sure the solar winds aren't going to carry that well. And that obviously negates FTL speeds. Oh well.

A movie geek complaint with a little physics: The missing planet. Obi Wan's informant tells him where the planet is. I was exceptionally pleased when he indicated where the missing planet needed to be based on the gravitational signature. So then he's too stupid to realize that somebody has fiddled with the records? He warns Anakin about trusting government agents, but can't heed his own advice? No wonder the Jedi are so easily fooled by Palpatine, they're a bunch of addle-minded nimrods.

I believe he did ask Yoda who would tamper with the records, didn't he? I remember Yoda saying that it was a harder question to answer and very troubling.

Yeah, but he only asked that after some little school brat pointed out that the records must have been erased. Obi Wan didn't come up with it on his own. Heck, when he brought it to Yoda, Yoda should have smacked him upside the head and told him to smeg off for interrupting class, so it must not have been immediately clear to Yoda either. The Jedi council are so addle-minded that they have to resort to asking kids how to think. No wonder there needs to be a cleansing.

YES!!! READ THE ZAHN TRILOGY!!! If you give Star Wars a 10 then these books are a 9.8 They are so incredibly good. READ THEM AND LOVE THEM!!!!

Just got back from seeing it again, this time in digital projection. It looks much better in digital, much sharper and crisper.

Couple of things. The people who saw Vader in the shadow on Tattooine are smoking crack. I stared at it the whole time and only saw Ani's shadow. His little pony tail makes the shadow look like a helmet I guess, but totally not intentional.

I think Dooko is Anikin's father. Who knows for sure? The immaculate conception thing was another lame-ass episode 1 thing. The kid needs a dad. Think about it, Dooko is supposedly more powerful than Yoda. Good force genes. Dunno, I can still live without the cliche revelation, "Anikin, I am your father." Well, if that's the case lopping off your son's arm runs in the Skywalker family.

The love story is worse the second time around. Anikin is a bad actor, but hey, it's Star Wars not Shakespeare.

It seems a lot of people are saying this, but for God's sake, just look at Mark Hammill (sp?) in Episode IV. He is a whiny brat as well. They are teenagers. Most teenagers confused and not happy with their life are whiny! They think they know everything. Carrie Fisher was so coked up in Episode VI, I am surprised she could deliver any lines. He acting was horrible in Episode VI.

The acting in Episode II is right on the acting of all Star Wars movies. Good, but not great by any means.

The only scene is Episode II where I thought "god that was awful acting" was when Anakin's mother died. "I love you, aaaawwwww."

I don't know if this has been mentioned before (don't really wanna read all the posts) but how does such a beautiful character, Natalie Portman, die in Episode III? Who kills her? Is it that Senator dude (forgot his name... Darth something?) that fought with Yoda at the end? And mad Skywalker kills him before the future Emperor, but he's so angry and confused that he turns into the dark side becomming Darth Vader? Who kills all the Jedi?

Overall I think it was a good movie. Anakin's acting was bad as it was his first movie ever, but let's give all of them a break.
Good movie. Looking forward to Episode III.

The rumor is that she dies while giving birth to Luke and Leia, but no one knows for sure.

That is true. Most notably the part in the droid-factory. When I saw the trailer which had scenes from the factory, I thought that it looked like a video-game. And it does. But it didn't look as bad as I had anticipated.

> All in all, I think that it was a silly thing for Lucas to put R2-D2 and C-3PO in the first three episodes.

This may have already been responded to, there are 4 more pages of responses to read. But bear in mind the original 3 trilogy idea was a story about R2-D2 and C-3PO. This is basically the story of there 'lives', the annoying humans are there to make it interesting.

> There is no mention of how she dies, and whether she's killed

Well, I always thought the story was that Anakin blamed Obi for what happened. I always presumed either a) she fell in love with Obi (not likely from what we've seen) or b) Obi was to protect her and failed and Anakin blames him.

> Now those star destroyers must way at least 100000 tons

Those were NOT star destroyers, just preludes to them. And the answer is Repulsorlifts. Same way that those Xwings 'float' around the hangers.

anakin's poor emotional acting is based on that fact that jedi's are supposed to control their emotions and be stoic. hence they are removed from their mother and not allowed emotional attachements.

which means when he marries at the end, he is ditching the jedi for good... i bet senator palpatine then picks him up and teaches him to be a dark jedi

if emperor/senator palpatine is the strongest/top dark force person, then he could have used the dark force to invsibly put his seed into anakin's mother, hence anakin has no real father and is a bastard, yet has the highest mitochondria count since he is a direct decesndant of the force (dark). hey politicians like spreading their seed, bill clinton and the evil empire

Saw it last night. Thought it was pretty good myself. My girlfriend even said she liked it, even though she's never seen any of the other movies.

Exactly. Leia says that in Episode VI.

Just because she says she remembers her mother does not mean that mother was Padme. Maybe the "mother" she remembers is her adopted mother.

Vader has a lot more robotic in him than his arm. His whole outfit is robotic, and it is required to keep him alive. Don't you remember how it was said that Obi-Wan fought him and almost killed him, and now he needs full time life support to survive? And besides, we found out Vader had a robotic arm in Return of the Jedi.

ps: is all the storm troopers in episodes 4,5,6 are superior altered clones of jenga/boba fett therefor real smart, good at what they do etc, did they SUCK! most were plain idiots rofl HAHA so they kinda ruined it there hard to believe they are are clones
I don't know why everyone thinks that the Storm Troopers in episodes 4-6 are clones. They aren't! They are simply military soldiers, who chose to serve the Empire. If Han Solo hadn't been a good pilot (and hadn't subsequently been kicked out of the academy), he probably would have become a Storm Trooper.

I am still wondering if Leia remembers her actual birth mother (Amidala), or her adopted mother. It is never established either way. She simply says that she remembers her mother. Of course she never knew she was adopted.

True... Although I was living with the impression that her foster parents died when the Emperor destroyed Alderaan in Episode IV.

Leia is most definitely talking about her birth mother Padme. She says that she vaguely remembers her own mother, and Luke has no recollection of his mother. So it cannot be the "adopted" mother you speak of. It is in all likelihood, Padme that she is speaking of.
