WTB: SW preview tickets, does anyone have any tickets with graphics or anything on them, I believe they would be to preview showings, I'm looking to pick
some up so please lmk if you have some.

I'm interested in reading the books now, is there any recommendation as to where to start? Which book takes place immediately after ROTJ?

What you should do is look at one of the books or online for a timeline(because they make new books that might take place before one that's already out). I believe that's the heir to the empire which is a trilogy and most excellent(or it could be Bakura, it's been a while since I've read them).
The guy that said most of the books are crap is smoking some cheap stuff, don't listen to him. The books ROCK. There are so MANY.
One of my favorites really is novels filled with short stories, like mos eisley cantina and about bounty hunters.
The books really add more depth to the SW universe.

Leia is most definitely talking about her birth mother Padme. She says that she vaguely remembers her own mother, and Luke has no recollection of his mother. So it cannot be the "adopted" mother you speak of. It is in all likelihood, Padme that she is speaking of.

My guess,Luke and leia were seperated when they were young, Luke was sent back to lars on tatooine and leia probably went to alderaan with padme.

Palpatine could be anakin's father since shmi was a slave, she could have been his.

Also I always see those star wars books at salvation army or goodwill for 50 cents, One store had two shelves full of them, thought about getting them but if it's not from GL's mind then I won't get it. Maybe I was turned off by the Truce at Bakura. But if you guys need that sw adventure I guess it's cool.

its pretty well accepted that obi-wan ran off with luke to tatooine and padme ran off to bail organa to hide leia.

And that Anakin ran off with C3-PO, his human-cyborg "companion". It's obvious that his need to destroy the universe is due to his repressed homosexuality. Why else build a gay robot friend?

Vader has a lot more robotic in him than his arm. His whole outfit is robotic, and it is required to keep him alive. Don't you remember how it was said that Obi-Wan fought him and almost killed him, and now he needs full time life support to survive? And besides, we found out Vader had a robotic arm in Return of the Jedi.

I think it is actually possible to pause the part where Vader is getting shocked by Palpentine and see his skeleton where it is machine and where it is bone. I remember seeing that he doesn't have either arm and as you can see in Empire and at the end of Jedi, his head is severely messed up. I'm positive that Anakin is going to sustain some more damage in the last fight with Obi-Wan (some say a space crash, some say a lava pit)

ps: is all the storm troopers in episodes 4,5,6 are superior altered clones of jenga/boba fett therefor real smart, good at what they do etc, did they SUCK! most were plain idiots rofl HAHA so they kinda ruined it there hard to believe they are are clones
I don't know why everyone thinks that the Storm Troopers in episodes 4-6 are clones. They aren't! They are simply military soldiers, who chose to serve the Empire. If Han Solo hadn't been a good pilot (and hadn't subsequently been kicked out of the academy), he probably would have become a Storm Trooper.

I'm sure some of them are still clones, but not all of them. I think that they'll eventually discontinue making clones but what are they going to do with all the ones that are left? Kill them? No I think they are still some in service just now its mostly average Joe Stormtrooper

<<Then natalie portman fell in love with him WAY too fast and too easy... if they had a past together from being around each other so much in the last 10 years, then ok it would have been believeable.... cuz that chemistry would have always been between them, but come on they have not seen each other for 10 years! which means anikin was still only a kid! so there is no way she could have been in love with a kid so HOW is there chemistry when they have only been around each other 2 days! maybe she thought he was cute, but love?! BAH!>>
<<what i did like about the movie: natalie portman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, i would so marry her in a second!!!!!! (serious question, does anyone know how to send an e-mail TO natalie portman?! if so PM me PLEASE).. natalie portman, natalie portman wearing that blue dress, natalie portman kicking a beast things ass, natalie portman tell anikin to not look at her that way because it makes her "uncomfortable' HAHAHAHAHAAH~!, yoda's fight scene!!!!!!!!!! and natalie portman!!!!!!!!!!!>>

Haha, don't believe they could fall in love in two days, but you'd marry her without ever meeting her?

<<2-When obi and ani go into that bar after the hitwoman, obi says somethgin tot he effect of "harm will one day come to me by your doing ani" referrign to his carelessness and anikin says "no don't say such thigns master"..... as we all know anikin ends up killing obi in episode 4, is the word i am looking for Irony?>>

It's sorta reverse forshadowing. If they made the movies in order, it'd be forshadowing, but because they weren't, I don't know what it'd be called (if there isn't a term for it, I shotgun the right to invent the name).

that was a great joke always gets a laugh along with the death sticks bit at the bar. agreed 3p0 jokes at the end where a little overdone, but remember there was A LOT of killing at the end (the monsters) and they needed to keep it light for the kids.

I think the common thing that is surfacing is if you don't know a lot about star wars you will be bored but hardcore fans will love it and have probably already seen it.

The idea of palpatine controlling both sides is brilliant, Create a war with clones and robots and he will be victorious either way. Now that's a power freak!

It is hard to say if Lucas would have put something like that in if he had made the episodes in order, but he has always said that he more or less had the screenplays for all six movies in his head from the beginning.

I would still call it foreshadowing, since from the perspective of AOTC, we're not supposed to know what happens later. If you view the movies in order (episode 1, episode 2, episode 3, episode 4...), it would definitely be foreshadowing. Since the first three of the sequence were made after the second three, it seems like it would be called something other than foreshadowing, but I still think it should be called that.

Was it just me or could you see Amidala's nipples in the white uniform she was wearing when she was talking to Anakin about going to Genosis? My wife thought the same thing.

Lucas must have had the AC on full blast when he was filming that scene.

No, if just gets really cold on a desert planet that has two suns. In the middle of the day.

Or, she was just really, really excited to go help the bearded English guy.

As I recall, the stormtroopers were considered reamnents of The Clone Wars. This was established well before the prequels were ever made, I'll try to dig up that old info somewhere.

I just saw the movie and thought it was a solid 1 1/2 hours of quality entertainment. Unfortunately, the movie was 2 1/2 hours long

I just thought of a theory as to why Jedi's in episodes 4, 5, and 6 seem to disintegrate when they die after seeing episode 2: Does anyone think that in episode 3 the Jedi's were given a drug to cause them to disintegrate so their bodies wouldn't be cloned? I dunno...I'm bored and my geek is showing

Yeah, I was wrong. I said that quickly without thinking. I was turned away from the Star Wars books, because some of them are crap. The original X-Wing series was ok (though I question the validity of thousands of pages of books based on a computer game), but then it was milked by a different author in a different, and much lesser series.

Kevin J. Anderson's stuff was never as good as Zahn's or the guy who wrote Shadows, but I guess they were fun reads that added to the backstory.

The anthologies compiled by Anderson (Tales of the Bounty Hunters, Cantina, and Jabba's Palace) were probably the best thing done by him, though some of the stuff conflicts with the current prequels (Boba Fett, for one, and IG-88's story never worked).

To those considering entering the vast world of Star Wars novels, I once against suggest Shadows of the Empire and Zahn's original trilogy (Zahn's Hand of Thrawn series was pretty good too), in addition to the three anthologies. If you like what you read, go to a bookstore, and grab a random Star Wars books. Maybe the quality has really picked up recently.

I highly recommend that you don't bother with The Truce at Bakura, the Black Fleet Crisis series, the Correllia series, the latter X-Wing series, the Bounty Hunter series, and the pre-Zahn Del-Ray books.

Good luck!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention - I saw it in Digital here in Canada (I dunno how many we have, 1 or 2, but one is right near my work.

VERY impressive - like a giant DVD on a computer monitor - no flicker, compression, or anything - VERY nice looking and sounding!!!

This movie was great! Much better than PM.

I'd rate them as follows:

Empire
ANH
AOTC
ROTJ
PM

Spicoli - As far as things being, "unbelievable" Like Shmi dying in Anakin's arms, remember we are "seeing" galactic events in this series, this is not "Three's Company." The story about Anikin Skywalker is being told (Ep 1-6) because it is extraordinary.

YODA! Amazing! I loved how he limped into that cave and allowed the Force to flow into him, in preparation for a monumental battle. I can't wait for the DVD so I can slow that fight down and see what was going on!

How come Obi-Wan could stop the dark Force energy bolts from Dooku with his light saber? Could Luke have done this with the Emperor or are other Force abilities needed?

It was cool how Yoda stopped and repelled the dark Force energy!

I believe that Palpatine is doing (done) the following:

1. Create the schizm with the Trade Federation in PM so that he could convince Amadala to vote no conficence in Vallorum. Now Palpatine is head of the Senate.

2. Somehow orchestrated the construction of the clone army for the Republic AND heading the Separatist movement, which is doomed to fail, so that he can (1) have the need to create a huge military, and (2) be granted absolute power over that army. The Separatist movement is needed so that the clone army is needed, but it is only and end in the means to gain power and create the army. This all obviously occured by ATOC.

3. Defeat the Separatist movement in Ep III and somehow set the Jedi up to be traitors or something so the Clone/STormtrooper (whichever it is then) can be used against the Jedi. Palpatine will keep the Republic at war so that he can keep absolute power. When there are no more wars to fight (ie no more Jedi), he will turn into the Emperor and rule through the use of power. By ANH he will disband the SEnate complete and the regional govenors will rule through fear of the DeathStar. The Deathstar is essential to achieving absolute power, that is, disbanding the Senate.

I believe Anikin will be turned by his inner desire to "restore order to the galaxy" as he tells Luke in ROTJ. He believe Democracy and it's failure to respond quickly to threats is the ultimate source of suffering (ie the death of his mother) and a supreme ruler would end that suffering.

In the end, it seems this complicated Anikin/Darth Vader character will be overcome by guilt from his mother's death and turn into Darth Vader to (in some twisted way) prevent the same from happening to others.

In retrospect I dont' think PM could have been much better. It had to set up this movie. Less Jar-Jar would have been good though...

I think Anikin will ultimately have to decide between "order" and "love" and will choose love. Padme will leave him after she becomes pregnant. She will give up the babies, they will be sent to two different planets for protection and she will be killed in action somehow. The ultimate showdown between Obi-Wan and Anikin will leave Anikin so scarred and twisted that Anikin will "die" and Vader will emerge. To be seen in ANH.

I almost lost faith in Lucas after PM but now Star Wars is back with a vengence. Kudo George Lucas!

I think it funny how the "reviewers" simply judged this movie based on the fact that superficially it looked like PM. THEY DIDIN'T GET IT AT ALL! THIS IS THE REAL THING! THIS IS STAR WARS AGAIN.

BTW, the cgi animation was better this time, everything was better, even Portman's acting, she didn't speak every line with an implied question mark at the end like the last movie. Hopefully she watched Fisher's performance as Leia and realized that she needed to be strong and decisive! Much better.

The kid who played Anikin also MUCH better than the kid who should stay with cereal commercials or something. This guy as Anikin was good! Brash, immature and mature at the same time, just like a young adult. Much potential yet confused and impatient, like his son will be.

Obi-Wan - another great performance.

Palpatine - same as above.

Dooku - Great, diciplined evil in the tradition of Grand MOff Tarkin.

Mace Windu - SJ was very good, there's not much in the part to "bite into" but then again this movie isn't about him.

Yoda - Yes! CG is the way to go. Too bad that fight probably took 50 years off his life!

Jar-Jar - Thanks George for keeping it to a minimum. Let's go with just a no speaking cameo in the next movie and it will be perfect.

Okay, that's enough!

Damn Hulk, nice review!

I believe in ROTJ, Luke threw away his Lightsaber when he said he wouldn't finish off his father. And I think Obi Wan used some force powers - the energy bolts went directly into the Lightsaber, instead of the Lightsaber shielding Obi Wan.

I just want to know: What the hell is Jimmy Smits doing in Star Wars?

We have a digital theatre here in seattle I'm going to have to see it at. I saw it Friday night at a regular screen and thought it was great. The end battle was awesome, the jedi Vs. battle droid scene was great. padme in the black leather was sweet.

Anyone know how much money it pulled in or is it posted some where else?

From memory, and this is reaching far back, Obi Wan fought Anakin and he fell into a lava pit or something similar. Which is why he needs the life support system, his strength as Vader comes from the force, like Yoda
