Which makes sense since she said she was elected young as queen in EP2. At the beginning of EP2 Anakin says he hasn't seen her in 10 years. So I'm lead to believe that 10 years have passed since EP1. So this would put Padme at a believable 25 years old, but what about Anakin? This would make him only 16ish years old in EP2. He sure doesn't look it. Does anyone have any more info to clear this up for me? And what HOT 25 year old babe would go for such a whiney 16 year old kid?

Anakin was supposed to be 9 or 10 in Episode I, making him 19 or 20 in Episode II. Padme was 14 in Episode I, making her 24 in Episode II. But, yeah, I don't know how Padme could fall for Anakin so easily although the rest of the movie was friggin awesome.

In AOTC, Padme is 24 years old and Anakin is 19. I read it in their profiles on StarWars.com.

Padme by 14, was elected Queen of Naboo.
Anakin was first seen at the age of 8 I believe, but for some reason he's 19 after 10 years later.

Well, we do notice the quality of the acting even if we have subtitles . I watched it in a digital theater with no subtitles. The acting was rather mediocre, but nowhere near as bad as I were anticipating.

If the movie is dubbed, then you can't notice if the acting is bad since all you hear are the people doing the voice-overs. Dubbing sucks, even hi-quality voice-overs (like in Germany) suck. And can you imagine what it must be lime in places like Russia, where ONE person reads all the lines (both male and female roles), with a monotonous voice?

I have enjoyed all the Star Wars movies. But I shake my head in wonder when I read how people think the earlier (later?) movies were better.

The story lines in episodes 4,5, and 6, good vs evil, the Empire and Vader vs the Rebels and Luke, were simpler than those in episode 2 which involves plots within plots, a collapse of a world order, and Anakin's turning to evil. Also episodes 1 and 2 are on a much larger scale than 4,5, and 6.

There have been comments on Anakin's lack of maturity. Luke in Episode 4 was such a whining bitch that it made me winch hearing him complain about not being able to play with his friends or join the military academy. I kept thinking Luke forget the Force just grow up the fvck up!

Comparing love stories, Leia and Hans reminded me of two 7 year olds who like each other but they can only show their feelings by hitting each other. They spent more time insulting each other than actually acting like lovers. There was very little intimacy between them. Where as Lucas has made an effort to establish a foundation for Anakin and Padme's relationship. I have no doubt Anakin and Padme love each other.

You know what? I've heard a lot of people comment on how Mark Hamil plays such an immature kid in Episode 4, 5 and 6. Than you compare him to Anakin and how he sucks in Episode 2. I have to agree that Anakin's acting gets very immature and perhaps annoying to the audience in Episode 2, especially the scenes of him confronting Padme and whining about his life. Yes, he's a teenager that whines about everything but to me he was overacting. Sometimes I didn't know whether to cry or laugh at his performance. But I don't think these few seconds of his terrible acting ruin the movie. As I said before, I loved it. My only complain about it is that I was hoping for more Light Saber fights. Especially from Anakin since he is supposed to be the "one". Now as a Star Wars fan I think that Mark Hamil played well in all Episodes. I didn't find his performance as bad as Anakin's in Episode 2.

I'm not kidding. In Russian and Poland (dunno about rest of the Eastern-Bloc) there's one guy who reads all the lines. He doesn't try to act any of the emotions, it seems that he just reads the lines from a piece of paper. My cousin gets a Russian tv-channel via satellite and we once watched it for lime 10 minutes. They were showing an american tv-series there (don't remember which), and one guy read all the lines. We just sat there thinking "You have GOT to be kidding me!".

The even weirder thing is that Hayden is older than Natalie in real life (he's 21, she's 20)

Just saw it a third time, gets better every time, Except this theater sound system was low and the bass that was there the first time was weak, It's amazing how a subtle change can effect the viewing experience. I asked them to turn it up, but the fvcks pass the responsibility around like a hot potato. Not going back to that theater. Anyway I am totally into this flick can't get enough of it.

And altough A.I. was not for me, Minority report actually looks interesting, I read the interview in wired w/ speilberg and the premise is interesting. May have to check it out, plus ILM did the graphics.

And any other graphixheads out there, there will be a new Cinefex magazine out in july featuring Star Wars. Check their website.

Just remember the scene with the nightmare. "No....no....no." Everyone in the audience burst out laughing. I think Lucas wanted to NSync-ify the role.

LOL yeah i was laughing really hard at that part haha...

that's true my bad.

here's an article from cnn.com in todays news

Christensen, who joined the cast as Anakin in "Episode II," figures the final installment will end so darkly the film might have trouble getting a PG rating like its five predecessors (though shrewd businessman Lucas likely will design the film to avoid a PG-13 so pre-teens can see it without an adult chaperone).

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker have a split in "Episode III."
"I think he will end almost on an apocalyptic note," Christensen said. "I just can't imagine it not being an incredibly dark and destructive film."

"You've got a war, and what we know from the previous trilogy, what my character does in wiping out the entire Jedi race, and the falling apart of my relationship with Obi-Wan."

"Episode III" will take place a few years after the action of "Attack of the Clones," Lucas said. After that, there is a 20-year gap before the events of the first "Star Wars," when young farm boy Luke meets Obi-Wan, Leia and Han Solo and is hurled into the rebellion against the Empire.

After it became a box-office phenomenon, the 1977 original was retitled "Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope" to set up the two sequels and eventual three-part prequel.

In keeping with that title, Lucas said, there will be some sense of hope as the dark curtain falls on "Episode III."

The director said he already filmed one of the last images of "Episode III" during production of "Attack of the Clones."

"It's not the exact closing image, but it's one of the final images," Lucas said. Laughing, he added: "I won't say what it is."

I'm sad to see the thread not sticky anymore, but oh well...

I loved the film. I've seen it twice at a local theater which is pretty good, fairly new -- but I'm planning a visit to a digital screen theater with stadium seating soon. This weekend is my 21st birthday and I'm going to be a little, uhh, _busy_, but I plan on it sometime early June. The theater is a 1 hr. drive from here but I think it will be well worth it.

As far as my opinion of EP II, I think overall it was as good of a film as they could've made it out to be considering the storyline. It did however have it's faults which everybody else has mentioned. Those notable that I found were the cheese areas -- Anakin's mom dying just when he comes to rescue her, the torture scene being very much like Gladiator, etc. Some of those scenes just seemed like they were rip offs. The film skipped views a lot, but that was almost needed to keep the viewer in suspense during the love story, which believe it or not was somewhat needed to work together with the series. Obi-Wan made EP II interesting, Anakin and Padme just kept the storyline in place how it was supposed to go, which being ... not so interesting

Everything else I pretty much liked. Natalie Portman is beautiful and played he role well. The actor who plays Anakin isn't half bad I suppose in his acting, somewhat pathetic in areas but oh well. Graphics, sounds, effects and such were intense. I liked EP I as well, for different reasons, but I liked EP II plain and simple and I can't wait for EP III.
