5) Anakin went from an annoying little boy to a really whiny and annoying man.

well no different from an average american in his late teens since the early 90s whiney grunge teen era.

amish ur points are valid but i dont think u can use those to criticize the movie....the entertainment value was excellent.....i should repeat again that people are too critical of the acting......im very sure if darth vader is a new character introduced in the starwars universe, people would have laughed the hell out at his heavy breathing. its a movie that has been ultra scrutinized and parodied.

P.S: someone please answer my nsync question.... i cant stand them but just curious to know if they did appear in the movie...everyone seems to have forgotten about that.

Isn't Anakin a member of nsynch? He looks like it.

Actually, I thought the acting was pretty good. It was the writing and production that I thought weren't up to snuff.

They were supposed to be somewhere in that Jedi/droid battle in that coliseum, playing anonymous Jedi that end up dead. Last I heard, Lucas himself said that the short scene that they were in didn't make the final cut. If they were there, I doubt anyone would have been able to notice them without going through the scene frame-by-frame. Though I would have liked to see them get mowed down by blaster fire.

did anyone notice that when Padme and Anakin kiss at the hut their shadows merge and look like a shadow of Darth Vader?

Just gave me a reason to go back and see it.

Electric Amish -

The recurring theme motif is actually a deliberate thing that Lucas does to try and show the cyclical nature of things.
Another example: Anikin loses an arm to a Sith Lord, Luke loses a hand to a Sith Lord. I don't think he's starved for ideas although I can see where some people might think that or be looking for more newness.

As far as repelling the dark force energy, I still don't get why Luke didn't do it with his light saber. Shouldn't Luke have told him about it, maybe something like:

Yoda: "If defeat Vader you do, beware the Emperor, strong is he with the dark side."

Luke: "What? Stronger than Vader."

Yoda: "Yes. Surprised you'll be when lightning from his fingers flies through you!"

Luke: "Uhh.... is there anything I can do."

Yoda: "Yes, your lightsaber, serve you well it can if you don't throw it away for dramatic effect."

But seriously, if Luke knew he could deflect the dark side energy with his light saber wouldn't he have used the force to draw it to him after the first blast?

Lucas actually calls it "cyclical motif" on the phantom menace commentary track.

as far as the lightsaber blocking the lightning strikes, didn't it look like obiwan was a little surprised when he was able to stop it with his saber.

I just saw it, I enjoyed it. I thought the first hour was a bit slow, but the battles towards the end more than made up for it to me. Plus, seeing Yoda being a badass was worth the price of admission.

I thought that the Obiwan/Maul fight at the end of EPI was the best of the series. The choreography was awesome for that one. That weapons guy they had play maul was amazing. The end of that fight was a little weak though, but oh well.

People keep saying this. I don't get it. She's a nice enough looking girl, but she's pretty average. I'm not bashing her, but she's a fine, normal woman. Perhaps that's it though. She seems normal enough to be achievable? I dunno.

I agree that Maul's choreography is probably the best out of the series, with Yoda's being the second best(don't know if it counts being that he is computer rendered though)

As much as I liked the Yoda thing - it was just too short and well, hard to see anything.

Yoda was just too fast and he was flipping around a bit too much. Good, but not as entertaining as maul.

and who wants to bet that most of these people who are complaining about episode 2 were the same ones who complained about episode 1, and will still pay to go see episode 3 and will complain about that too. And in the end will own all 6 movies on DVD.

Come to think of it, imagine being the actor playing dooku, and having to fight a computer generated yoda. That'd be hard to do without actually having another person to fight against...

hehe just got back from my first digital projection viewing. i saw pixels mostly the closeups of cg aliens looked more detailed, but every other scene you could see the digital pixel grid in bright areas, high contrast areas, or on large unmoving objects, which was very very annoying. that scene in the grass definetly looked ugly thought it would improve some from the film since it was first gen, seems the camera just didn't have the res for it eye gets drawn to regular patterns like that, especially obvious during bright scenes. ah well, hopefully their next gen increases res a bit.

hehe my eyes aren't that sharp and i didn't sit that close. i was in the forth row from the front. i tried taking my glasses off but still the pixel problem was there

the res isn't so hot. the most glaringly obvious area is where theres text. you see stairstepping not kewl

Yoda was just too fast and he was flipping around a bit too much.

read the script :

YODA
Count Dooku. No interest in
contests, do I have.

COUNT DOOKU charges across the space at YODA. He rains down blows upon the tiny figure. YODA doesn't budge an inch. For the first part of the contest, he parries every cut and thrust that Dooku aims. Nothing the great swordsman tries gets through. His energy drains. His strokes become feebler, slower.

YODA attacks! He flies forward. COUNT DOOKU is forced to retreat. Words are insufficient to describe the range and skill of Yoda's speed and swordplay. His lightsaber his a humming blur of light.

Count Dooku's lightsaber is sent cartwheeling from his hand. He staggers back, gasping and spent, against the control panel. YODA jumps onto DOOKU'S shoulders, and is about to drive the lightsaber into the top of the Count's head.

YODA
(continuing)
The end for you, Count, this is.
