im gonna be 39 this year, my kids are 11, 11 and 13. i wish they stopped growing like 5 years ago, when i was superdad and the most important thing in the world to them. now i have to share time with their friends, alone time, computer time and a crapton of other interests they have.

the bright side is, when we do hang out, the conversations are much more interesting, they make me stuff without me having to help them with it, and they really have a voice. we can also do more diverse things together (different things, other than kid stuff) now that they are getting a bit older. im sure at some point it will turn into the teen angst years, so im enjoying it while i can. at least you have a few years before dealing with that =P

lol you obviously havent ever had girls over for more than a couple hours... i have 2 girls and a boy, and by far they are more stubborn, aggressive and devious than boys. or mebbe im just lucky.

I've got a 12 year old that just started 7th grade, so I am dealing with it right now.

Be glad you are a regular part of their lives.
I see my 9 year old daughter 3-4 times a year. 5-6 weeks total.
In the flesh, that is, I see her on webcam more often.

Their childhoods seem to be going by so fast, before I know it, they'll be all grown up. I turn 40 next year and don't know how I'm going to handle it. Turning 30 sucked, I'm guessing 40 will be much worse.

Someone cheer me up. I'm having a terrible day.

My oldest recently told me she wants to invent a device to interface a camera into the sight centers of the brain to allow blind people to 'see'.

She doesn't cuddle much any more, but seeing the way her mind takes off on a new subject that interests her is still pretty cool.

We don't get to baby them for long, and it's not 'til they have babies that we get to really do that again with a child, I think.

I don't know if I'm helping, but I do sympathize.

I hear ya on this one. Im turning 36. One of my girls is 11 and the other will be 4... My 4 yr old still daddy's girls, but my 11yr old is just growing up...still loves on me but not like when she was little. I hate thinking of them growing up...makes me sad.

Think I am going to ask the wife for another soon. I do want to raise a son. My girls don't dig fishing and hunting much..
