i don't care what all the nay sayers who are saying 'it's such a waste of time and i would never ever do it' ... well good for you!

for those of us that HAVE done it, it's a lot of fun to camp out for stuff. you are in line to get something you are very excited about using, and you are with a bunch of people and probably friends who all are having the same exciting feeling. it's fun to hang and talk with people who have the same interests as you, and to do something like this every now and then because it's not something that you do often at all.

All so much hype for a phone! People speak of it like it's the next coming of Jesus or something. Oh wait, Steve Jobs is selling it...

I thought I saw on the news over the weekend that people in NYC were camping outside the Apple stores on the 4th to get in line...or was I daydreaming again?

most we are deploying are being returned.

With the touch screen and no stylus women have a hard time with texting. Good luck trying to use it while driving ever. I can push out a quick reply on my blackberry by touch...with no tactile response the iPhone would be impossible.

Well, I think not being able to text while driving is a good thing.

I've waited in lines for Black Friday deals .. I usually go with a group of friends and we buy all the door buster deals then Ebay 'em for profit! As long as you're with people it's not bad. I don't understand why you'd wait in line for this iPhone tho .. it's not like it won't be there a day later. We waited hours in line to makes hundreds of dollars in profit.. not to say we were the first to have something .. that everyone is going to have.

I can't think of anything I'd really wait in line for. Restaurants maybe, but that's about it.

I'm sure you've had that "I have to have it, and have it now" thought before, come on now

This is that moment for me, damn the torpedos!

Saying it never happens is like when someone says they never have speeded.

Sometimes all hell breaks loose at work...no one is sitting there typing two handed and looking at the thing though. Most of us can do it by touch and let spellcheck fix the majority...

with a touchscreen it'd be impossible, so in the same situations you will have more drivers trying to pull off driving 'hands free'.

It's about what happens in real life vs fairy tale time.

The iPhone is a good show phone or for the kiddies.

Sorry, I meant damn the torpedoes (spelling error)

It means to advance without hesitation.

The quote is from the American Civil War.

"Damn the torpedoes, Full speed ahead!"

Admiral David Glasgow Farragut (1801-1870). Aboard Hartford, Farragut entered Mobile Bay, Alabama, 5 August 1864, in two columns, with armored monitors leading and a fleet of wooden ships following. When the lead monitor Tecumseh was demolished by a mine, the wooden ship Brooklyn stopped, and the line drifted in confusion toward Fort Morgan. As disaster seemed imminent, Farragut gave the orders embodied by these famous words. He swung his own ship clear and headed across the mines, which failed to explode. The fleet followed and anchored above the forts, which, now isolated, surrendered one by one. The torpedoes to which Farragut and his contemporaries referred would today be described as tethered mines.

So some women bitched about the Iphone being hard to type on since they have huge fingernails. Awwwww.

By this point (no matter what anyone tells me) It has become a must purchase for me.

So, any idea if there's going to be huge camp-outs for this release?

The stores will all be opening at 8am. If there is going to be camp-outs, what's a good time to go? I was thinking the earliest I'd possibly consider is 6am, shouldn't this be good enough?

I'll be going to the AT&T store in Paramus NJ, rather than an apple store.

Dude, people have been camping out at the NYC apple store for 2 weeks already. One of the journalist at my company had the misfortune of covering it.

That's just sad. Sorry but it is. Two weeks?!? Are they jobless hippies?

And guys too.

Do you own an iPhone? If so you are trying too hard to not acknowledge it's major shortcomings with texting.

Nobody can understand what you are saying because of the way you type. What does "most we are deploying are being returned" mean? Most of the iphones you have deployed to your workforce are being returned .... because the women can't text message with one hand?

Someone replies that it's a good idea not to text message while driving then you reply with

Saying it never happens is like when someone says they never have speeded.

What the? Nobody says they don't text, they just said you shouldn't.

Then you start talking about hell breaking loose and people sending text messages blindly with one hand.

I have to assume you are in IT or Ops. It's your fault for deploying the iPhone to your team. It's your mistake, not Apple's. Apple never said that IT pros are the target market for the iPhone. It's like giving a tricycle to Lance Armstrong and yelling "This does not fit his needs!"

No one can text well with it. Even our most saavy users.

What the? Nobody says they don't text, they just said you shouldn't.

I am in IT...we aren't the people that deny what the user's want. Our associates wanted iPhones so we get them iPhones.

The iPhone is a show phone plain and simple, for functionality it's very low level.

if you find yourself having more of a hard time understanding basic english that's not spot on grammatically correct; that's on you.

I am too busy during the day to sit and go over everything I type.

Well these unlike iPhones usually were sold out for a long while after their release. If your kids had one of these as numbers 1-10 on their holiday list as a parent one decides a little bit of pain now or several months worth.
