I tend to wear my sneakers out pretty quickly, and I need something that is very supportive throughout the day. I'm an engineer doing lab work, so there's a fair bit of sitting involved (it's not like I'm a server at a restaurant on my feet all day...I don't know how I'd survive that) but I do run from lab to lab to get shit done.

Suggestions?

I have wide feet myself, New Balance is also my go to personally.

With Dr Scholl Gel Arch Support pads in them.

I guess that says women's, I was just grabbing a pic fast.

Nike Free. Once you break them in they are great if you spend a lot of time walking around.

I was very happy when I finally discovered the Aasics brand. They have a good selection of wide and narrow sizes. They last a long time, and are comfortable until the day they finally disintegrate.
Not cheap though.

I have had the Asics in the past past and still prefer the New Balance, but it is personal choice a lot of the time.

I tried Asics for a couple of years. Not bad for comfort, but they just didn't last for me.

Budget?

I'd avoid the entire minimalist shoe fad as they lack support - Nike Free I'm calling you out. I would never want to be labeled as a Skecher wearer, but you cant deny their comfort and always on sale prices.

NewBalance 840 is a great shoe and is sold in normal non-neon work friendly colors. Same goes for the NB 990 but pricey at $165.

For support, I'd recommend a light hiking shoe from someone like Merrell or Oboz or any of a dozen other companies. The trade off is a shoe that's a bit heavier than, say, a running or walking shoe. But it should also be more durable than most others and last longer.

Going lighter, a trail running shoe might be a good compromise between a hiker and a typical running shoe, but won't have the same degree of support as most hiking shoes. New Balance, Merrell and most of the running shoe companies make good trail runners. Like someone else mentioned, you want to avoid the minimalist shoes, which will have both less support and less durability.

Personally, I prefer light and comfortable around the office, but I don't have foot problems. I'd wear flip flops all the time if the office I was working in allowed it. Those Skechers looks pretty damned comfy.

Don't wear running shoes for anything other than running. They aren't made for it and aren't going to be comfortable doing other shit in.

Since I have 3 pair of Nike FS Lite Run 3 and also a pair of Reebok Z-Print Run, I will just run a little bit when I wear them, that should fix everything.

Converse All-Stars. They're only like $50 and last me over a year each -- probably because they're unusable in the winter. They have no support which is good because I think it feels more like barefoot walking.

Or ~$30 from Ross/Marshalls/TJMaxx. I just bought a pair the other day. Basically like indoor soccer shoes (Adidas Samba), but cheaper and more fashionable. Probably not enough support and too stiff a sole for OP, but I'm liking them so far.
