I still request that we add more roster slots. At least a CI/MI and some more pitchers?

Sorry, I don't think that is going to happen unless I get a lot of people with that request. Adding more slots is just too much as a bunch of people that are in the league are 1st timers. I'm trying to keep it simple so that everyone has a good time playing.

I have played with these settings for the past 8 years and it has worked out fine every year - I'd prefer to keep it this way as its pretty much the Yahoo default settings.

Alright - fair enough. How about just one extra OF slot? I just want it to be a bit deeper, is all.

I'm sure you want it deeper

Well, there are 24 roster spots so thats pretty deep to begin with. If anything I would add another utility spot but I think drafting 24 players is more then enough.

But there are only 16 active roster slots!!!!!1111 Throw me a bone here!

Does anyone want to step up and collect the $10 from everyone and hold them until the season is over? If not, then I guess I will do it. Since I don't have a non fee paypal account I will have to accept $11 from everyone to cover the fees.

I would like the money to be collected by no later then midnight today so that everyone is paid up prior to the draft. If the monies are not paid by the draft then I will delete your team and allow someone else to take your place. We currently have 10 signed up and I am waiting on another 2 to register their teams. We are full right now at 12 and I have a couple of other people that have expressed interest in playing.

Longballers and Tank Police please state who you are. I am trying to update the main page and I don't know what your AT screen name is.

Bump for anyone that wants to volunteer to collect the monies for the league.

I'm probably just being retarded here, but I'm not really sure how scoring works. I looked on the site and in the OP, but it does not really say what you get for each stat. I need to know so I can rank my players and make it seem I at least have a slight idea of what I'm doing.

We are playing rotisserie style which means you culumate your stats and based on how they rank against the other teams get a value ie 1-12

Here is a quick overview of the scoring

KT, I don't think I saw you signed up yet, is that right?

Edit: KT, nevermind - no glove, no love

Right - when you're first starting out, Roto can be a little confusing.

Think about it like this: there are a fixed amount of points available for each category. The total number of points for each category is equal to the number of teams in the league - so in our case - 10 points.

Let's say that I have 25 HRs (Roto is cumulative as the season goes on) and the person below me has 24...the next 23...and so on down the list. I would have 10 points for HRs the person below me would have 9 and again, so on down the list. It's almost easier if you think about it like ranks instead of points.

Oh good lord, that sounds ridiculous. Let me do some more reading on this.

Oh, its not that bad. Its basically just "set it and forget it". I generally play guys that are having "hot" months and go with them and rotate. Its really pretty easy. You can set your roster weeks in advance. They give the SPs a little arrow to know what days they are schedule to start.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it KT - you're all math guys here, I'm sure you'll pick up on it really quick. If you don't - I'd be more than happy to try and explain it in greater detail on Skype

I've done some reading and it makes more sense now. Still seems like a strange way of doing things, but I guess with the way Baseball is scheduled/played it works.

Yep, got your payment. Its been recorded on the 1st page.

The draft is totally set at random just like football. I believe the order is determined 30 minutes prior to the draft. I hope I get a top 5 pick.....please please please please yahoo gods!

So I assume it's more valuable to have a great position player over a great pitcher?

Traditionally, yes. If you look at the rankings last year there were 3 pitchers in the top 10 (ranking-wise) Halladay, Sabathia and Lee. None were pre-ranked in the top 10 (58,27 and 91 respectively). So its generally considered to draft SP late as its really a crap shoot as how they will perform. There are some exceptions to the rule, though.

There are quite a few different draft strategies. I will be more than happy to share them with you on Sunday

Eh, whatever, I'll just slap something together Saturday morning. I don't really have time to look at anything until then.
