I need to find a way to get from Midway to O'Hare at 2:00am on Friday. Any advice?

Long Version

I am going to Chicago for a meeting this weekend (Friday - Sunday). I just got my itinerary and noticed that my assistant got me a fight that lands at Midway at 2:00 am and my meeting is a 7:00 am at a hotel right by O'Hare. I checked and there is no other flight available into Ohare so I think I'm stuck with this flight.

According to the CTA website its a 2 hour trip from Midway to Ohare but the first train is at 4:00am. Am I screwed? How much is a taxi? I couldn't find a shuttle that ran at this hours.

I find City-Data's Forums very helpful in terms of questions like this one.

You'd make it if you left on the 4AM train but that sucks.. take the taxi and expense it.

Even if the trains run at that hour you'd be looking at at least 2 hours to take the "el" (train) from Midway to downtown and transfer to the blue line out to O'Hare. Cab will take you about 40 minutes at that hour and cost about $30 (just a guess, it's probably flat rated.)

Wow, arrive at 2am for a 7am meeting. Your company must be really cheap

It is a tollway, but the 294 is plenty fast that time of night. Driving (cabbing) from Midway would involve taking I-55 to I-294 and taking that up to O'Hare via I-190 (also a toll). Expense it all. Should be a 30 minute trip by cab.

The shuttle brewerdude posted is the best option....it'll get you there direct and you only pay $16.

Most cabs are expensive in Chicago. 2 years ago I got a cab from the airport and they charged $35 just to take me to Schaumburg when there was ZERO traffic on the road.

I work right around Midway and there are hundreds of taxis in the area just waiting for a fare like that. Simply call up one of the Taxi businesses and ask them for a ride.

Try McNamara Cab Company around Midway. They should be able to hook you up.

Get the phone number for "American Taxi" and have them waiting for you. That will be the cheapest.

Yea, the Orange line doesn't start to run until 4 A.M. and it would be at least an hour and a half ride into the loop and back out on Blue to O'Hare.

Cab it.
