Att broadband service?

When I ordered the service last year it was att, now it gets weird and tell me its comcast. Find comcast whatever. It was not until the bill came this both I figure that the price had been increase from my $42 to $56. I didn't change my service plan. Any who suscribe to Comcast or Att received this problem recently?

If it is indeed 56 I am cancelling it. Anyone suggest a good cable company with little problems? Att broadband hand't been very nice anyway. My connection signal is weak and yes I live in a big city. They came to fix it and nope problem persist. So, what am I going to do? My connection cuts off all the time.

Is there a cable company with merged Cable video service and cable internet service plans? Some suggestion is appreciated thx.

Comcast recently bought out the entire AT&T Broadband service. You should have gotten notices (or the bill may have been your notice) and they've sent emails to your account.

It's perfectly likely that Comcast has increased the charges, and there's nothing you can really do about it except not pay the bill and cancel service (the bill charges for the coming month, so you don't lose anything you've paid for already). Of course, you screw yourself cancelling service immediately because of email addresses and needing to get some other service.

You should of course look at each of the line items and see if the basic service cost went up, or if they added on new fees or something.

Comcast emailed all their 'new' AT&T customers about the rate increase.

I'm sorry to hear about your service, I've had the same cable through 4 providers and it's been great the entire time and I live outside the city.

what city u live in, i live near Pittsburgh PA, comcast has a monopoly over the area, as did ATT, i would try dsl providers thats if u don't comcast. I hate comcast also, but i live to far for dsl, so sucks to be me

What do you hate? I live in Carnegie and the service is great, except for the caps AT&T added on after they bought @Home. The support people are morons, but I rarely need them so I don't really care.

I live in LA, I just thought its stupid that they increase the fee since I will be cancelling it anyway. I mean when I look at their website new subscriber are still subject to only 45 bucks and now a one year old customer is going to pay 11 bucks more for what? I have no contract so doesn't it mean I can just cancel the service and suscribe again? Also DSL is in fact widely available in my area but couple factors had limited me from getting it one is the phone line condition of my house (I doubt its any good), second I have a 250 dollar Cable modem (Yes, I was trying to save 5 bucks a month for not renting and now this is what I get), third I am still in love with cable but hate the company.

Now does what I said work? or I have to find another serivce? If so who can suggest a problem free one?

What exactly does your bill show where there's an increase? Is the basic price still 45 dollars and then other stuff gets tacked on, so that new subscribers get gyped and actually pay the same as you?

Only problem with cancelling and resubscribing is that you lose any email accounts. Also, they do keep records of old accounts so they probably will say "sorry, you're not a new subscriber".

I call and they say that's the way it is the price is 56 dollars. I'm like bullsh($t, I looked at their website and the basic price is 45 bucks. Either way I don't get a my 45 dollars a month I cancel the subscription it's that simple. There are plenty of alternatives for cable. I really don't want to go through the trouble that's all.

I said look at your bill, not call. Does the line item for basic service say 56 dollars? Do you have digital cable TV as well or just regular cable TV?

For all this time I'm talking about High Speed Internet Access Cable and yes the basic service has recently become 56 bucks instead of 45.

I know you were talking about Internet service. I asked about cable TV because usually they give you a discount if you get digital TV service as well as Internet service. Maybe you're not getting that discount now, or you never should have been in the first place, something like that.

You should certainly call and escalate up the chain to find out why they're advertising service for 45 dollars and suddenly raised your prices, and find out if any notification of the price change was sent out.

Everyone I know that had AT&T cable were notified by both email and a mailing. (don't know if it was a separate letter or inserted into their bill)

Supposedly, Comcast isn't raising the rates. What they claim they are doing is doing away with the 'discount' you got from having both internet service and cable service since they are not the cable company.

Dunno, don't have them. The people who told me this were under the impression that Comcast just bought the internet stuff. Obviously they were misinformed.

Do they really provide discount if Internet Cable and TV cable are both suscribed? I might just suscribe TV cable and then get a discount off my internet. This occur to me when I was eating dinner with my dad today. He was fussing over his 52 inch TV that he just bought not because it sucks, but because he had nothing to watch.

Really though forget this crap, Comcast can goto hell. I ain't paying 56 dollars for some crap company with some crap service. I'd rather go with earthlink or rr. I haven't decide though which one would you guys prefer? It will be the best if there is a cable company that offers cable TV and provides discount if suscribed in conjunction. THx>=D

Go with Covad if you like speedy service that's not overly priced.

70 bucks a month for 1.5/384k service, compared to like 50 bucks a month for 640/128 according to the only prices I could get from Earthlink.

You can't get cable service from anyone else most of the time. Cable is a regionalized monopoly. Each company gets a contract for every single city in a region making them the exclusive provider. Eventually sometimes a region will allow another company in, but they have to roll their own entirely new network to compete, which is expensive and slow to expand. That's why people get so upset about cable companies merging, it makes a single company own an even larger network covering even more of the country.

I have a little warning COMCAST is A CRAP COMPANY. The whole damn company is a scam. This thing has a monopoly in my area zip code 90045 LA and so that's my only choice. They also have monopoly in other areas, if any of you still have a choice between DSL or Comcast cable forget Comcast it sucks so bad it'll ruin your life. Basically this is what they told me.

"Your rate has been increase to 56 dollars because that's our current rate right now"
"On the statement I received it says if want to keep current rate order cable package call this number and so I did I want to know some of the cable packages you have" (thinking wtf a scam)
"Well we have the 56 dollar package and a little lower 42 dollars"
"Well, is there any other options?"
"Well yea!? There is a basic cable line for 9 dollars and you receive more clear reception"
"Same channels"
"Exactly"
"So what's the point then? Any other options?"
"Basically you just have to order any of the TV package to keep your current rate"
"Nevermind I got it" hangs

TOTAL SCAM, bullcrap

A lot of cable companies have had a discount if you order more than one service. It's a good way for them to get people to get cable TV along with their Internet service, and also to get them switched to the phone service.

Them raising the price to 56 bucks suddenly is just them being a big corporation with a monopoly.
