That's not true anymore...............there was a interview where he stated that if it was in the best interest of the country and his party, he would accept the position of V.P.

Also.............................replace McCain with Powell or any other high ranking Rep. and there ya go...........the name won't mean as much possibly, but the sympathy vote will be there......................

Anybody who thinks Cheney is baggage doesn't remember such sterling VP we had recently such as Spiro Agnew (Nixon's "impeachment insurance" ultimately resigned, convicted of bribe taking-which continued into his VP days) or this Bush's soul brother, Danforth Qualye.

Cheney's not getting dumped. His quip was perfect for his audience.

I really admire Jon Stewart and his staff. They have mastered the technique of exposing dubious soundbites and speaking points. I remember watching his show a few months ago when the Administration's attacks on Clark were in full swing. Stewart put together a montage of all the bigwigs (Rice, Cheney) with one starting an attack point and the next one finishing it-the exact same sentence. In thirty seconds it exposed how totally scripted the Administration is.

Umm.. you extreme left/right -wing people KNOW that your partisianship clouds your judgement, right? I mean, I know that Kerry is not really a slimy, flip-flopper, it just seems that way because I tend to lean to the right a bit. I understand this and you'll rarely see me spout it off in real life or on a discussion board.

Sometime I worry about you rabid "Your candidate is PURE EVIL, while mine is ANGELIC and WILL SAVE THE WORLD" people. Acting that way is fun sometimes, but you DO have the ability to look past stupid sound-bites and catch-phrases and see real issues, right? Blind fanatism leads us nowhere. This is politics, NO ONE is innocent.

In his 2000 convention acceptance speech, Gore said the Bush tax cut would save the average family 62 cents a week ("enough for a diet coke"). He later clarified it and said 62 cents a day per family... which is still wrong. Even at 62 cents a day, that's only a little over $226 a year. Under the Bush tax plan, the average family would save $1500 -- $4.20 a day, which is almost $29 dollars a week.
