It's not. However, Thorny probably didn't mean it that way, just did word it correctly.
I'm a little over 6'8" barefoot. The fact is, there's nothing you could have done better. It's good that you reprimanded your staff, however it's quite sad they act like kids.
Anyways, the guy has heard it his whole life. I certainly do. No matter where I go, everybody says something. I can get pissed about or just understand I'm tall and make light about it. When people ask about my height I sometimes say I'm 4'3". And if they ask about basketball, I ask if they play miniature golf. Though what your staff did is very unprofessional and quite offensive, it sounds like he just has a bad attitude about it. Or maybe he just tired of it. Either way, there's nothing more you can do.
