The time has come again to start preparing for ATOT's own secret santa. This thread is not the information thread rather this is the feedback thread. Matt and I are seeking feedback and any changes you would like us to consider making based on your experiences in previous years.

We are planning on running everything again as in past years pending approval from the mods. If you have never participated in our secret santa gift exchange look for a new stickied post around November 1st.

Thanks,

Matt and Jeff

Please, we are looking for constructive criticism here. We want this year to go even smoother than last year. Each year Jeff and I get more and more ideas on how to improve it, but we'd also like to take some of your suggestions into consideration, as you are the ones that go through the process. So all we are asking is what would you like to see out of this years secret santa? How can we make it better than last year?

Last year's early start (October 30th) was good. More time equals better gifts (at least for me, since I have more time to save and find deals).
I can't think of anything to improve on, really. Last year's (and the previous year's, too) was good.

Suggestion: People who sign up could indicate whether they're willing to have their gift be in donation form to a charity, with a list of non-controversial charities approved in the OP. It's been a rough year in lots of places around the globe.

One thing might help. I always see some people say they never saw the thread because it was stickied. Keeping this thread unstickied and alive (periodic bumping) in addition to the official stickied information thread might help.

Agree completely with this. "Child's Play" should definitely be on the list, if they are having a drive this year. DaveSimmons handled ATOT's last year, IIRC.

Please no gift cards or Live, Wii, or PSN (if you can find it) points cards. If you don't want to take the time out to get a simple gift, no matter how small, you should NOT participate. That's my input.

I participated in past years, and I thought them went well. Love the what I got from my secret santa thread w/ pics.

would it be possible to have different tier groups? like one $20 group and one $50 group? or would that be too much hassle to organize

This will probably not happen as it would be a hassle to organize.

Starting it early was really good. It was my first year last year and I really enjoyed it. I think it would be good to make sure people submit a couple good ideas, I remember seeing some complaints that people were very vague with their likes and dislikes. Other than that I think it went well. I'll try to think of some ideas...

OH Maybe set up an email reminder every week if we opt in so people don't forget.

Awesome! This'll be my first year participating in it, even though I've been here a lot longer <_<

Separate grown up and kiddy exchanges...sounds good to me!

If I'm not banned this year, I'm in!

I would strongly recommend more information is provided by the participants. I've participated for the past two years, the first year I was provided with an amazon wish list (AWESOME!) and the second year all I was told was that the person liked computers. That was quite the pain because I didn't have any more. Like Mac/PC/Linux, Gamer/solitaire master, etc. Made it pretty tough, of course I am as guilty as anyone else, so I will try and do better my self.
