for most people, you typically smell like what you eat a lot. Assuming you bath and your BO isn't overpowering. Some people naturally just stink more because they have more sebaceous glands than others. On top of that, every "race" from any given region has a distinct odor unto themselves even if they share similar diets. Not sure why, but my nose can tell.
Which means, everyone has a particular odor unto themselves. Part of that odor they share with others of the same race, region, and dietary habits. Even white Americans. Did you know many American soldiers were killed in Vietnam because of out odor? To the Vietnamese hiding in the jungle, most soldiers smelled like rotten hamburger and rancid milk. Considering that most white American soldiers ate plenty of beef, drank plenty of milk, and ate plenty of cheeseburgers then this is not unusual.
Also, peoples sense of smell because accustomed to what is around them often. Which is why you usually can't smell yourself unless you do something to change your odor. Even then, you can only smell what has changed out of the wide array of scents that everyone produces. This is why people that you associate with and have the same dietary and hygiene habits as you also smell fine. Your nose ignores them for having a similar smell.
