Dang, I wish I would have seen this thread earlier! :Q I would have thrown in a vote for Lincoln, NE. It's only a "stone's throw" from me. I'd love to be able to come to where you're suggesting (and when), but alas, your "ace pilot" (hehe) is going to be slogging through swamps, eating bugs & dirt (and loving it), carrying a laptop in one hand and a rifle in the other at Ft. Chafe Me (Chaffee), AR on that weekend! (Ahhh, the life of the modern soldier....)

If we do it another weekend (not that I would ASK anyone to change on my account, but just in case), I'd entertain the idea of trying to pick up 1-2 other people and fly 'em, assuming they can at least help chip in for fuel. I have woefully few hours in my logbook after all the lousy winter weather we've been having and the blue skies are calling!!

I'm in Topeka, KS. Anyone that is not TOO far out of the way towards the meetin' place should post here if the date is changed for any reason. Otherwise, I'll look forward to trying to catch the next one!

p.s. I'm still wanting to get together with others further south at some point over the summer, but if I could make more than one "get-together" this year, I wouldn't complain!

Hey Thunder, Which would work out better, before or after the dates we're shooting for? I don't think it's set in stone yet so I'd like to know what works out better for you.

My only problem is that it can't be at the very beginning or end of a month. Someone has to be around here to pull inventories, close work orders and enter timecards, and I'm IT! The trials and tribulations of being a service clerk at a Cat House.

Hmm, I just may be able to make a Minneapolis get-together...

If it is the weekend of the 19th, that is the week after I get done with finals, so things could be rather busy for me still. However, if we're doing just a weekend thing, it shouldn't pose too much of a problem.

I'm not really a heavy gamer, but I'll bring my rig anyhow.

If we are going to be staying at motels or whatever, I will need something seriously low cost. (the whole poor college student thing )

I never knew how busy I was going to be in May and June until this forced me to sit down at a calendar and figure out a good time.

My annual training at Ft. Chaffee will be from the 11th or 12th through the 26th or 27th of May, so that kills those 3 weekends.

The 9th & 10th of June is my monthly training, so that's out. Then I'm leaving on the 17th for a trip to Colorado, so that weekend is a no-go.

It looks like the only possible weekends I could do would be the 23/24th of June and the 30/1st of July.

Assuming that either of those weekends is possible (and it sounds like the 2nd one will conflict with BGod), I still could probably fly up and the plan of stopping at Ankeny sounds fine. It only adds about 3-4% to the distance of my flight.

I asked for the 15th through the 21st off today. I've got quite a few friends that live in the Twin Cities so I'll need the whole week to find them all, and one day to drive home.

Now we need to decide on a place to meet up. Someone needs to post a detailed map from Map Quest or Map Blast so we know where we're going to. The guys in the Twin Cities need to find a hotel/motel that would be in a fairly central location that might have a decent sized meeting room for us to set up in. Maybe even one that's locked up at night so we wouldn't have to tear down once we get it all set up.

Actualy I am going to call Wellcky later today when he will be home. Maybe too if Curt Oien would pm me to let me know what his # is maybe he could help plan this thing too. Hopefully we will have something figured out soon. But it will take a little calling. I will surly let you all know when I find out some info... Now that I am starting to get some kinda idea when and who is coming I can start to figure out what size of a place we need.

With the price of Motels being what they are, maybe those of us from Central Iowa could go in together and rent an RV for the weekend.
