Here's the temps for my wife's new PC. I was going for low noise rather than cooling performance, but the temps are pretty respectable for a 3.4 GHz chip in a rig that is awfully quiet when running. I'm using the numbers from Intel's own software, but they don't seem too out of whack compared to what other people are getting so I figure they are decently accurate. Hopefully more Prescott numbers will roll in as the rest of us who got Retail Edge promo bundles will finish their builds.

Speed (Ghz): 3.4GHz
Socket: LGA775
Idle Temp(C): 51
Max Temp(C): 68
Mobo Idle Temp(C): 35
Mobo Max Temp(C): 40
Cooling Solution: Stock HSF
Case: Antec Sonata
No of Case Fans: single 120mm rear exhaust
Mobo: Intel 915PBL
Monitoring Software: Intel Desktop Control Center
Notes: D0 stepping. Used SETI@Home to max out both logical CPUs for max temp reading. Heatsink fans speed was controlled by motherboard and varied from 2200RPM when idle to 2700RPM under load. Passively-cooled X300 graphics card, Seagate 7200.7 SATA hard drive, and Lite-On 812S DVD+RW also installed in case.

I posted the temps from my 3.2es at 4.0ghz in this thread earlier. Just finished a new LGA 775 3.6es system and have temps from it to add now. I also added a link to an ongoing thread about it on BE forum if you want to see benches

CPU: 3.6es LGA 775, 248fsb X 17 @ 4.2ghz, 1.425vcore
MB/RAM: Abit AG8V, 2 X 512mb Corsair XMS PC3500 1:1 2-2-2-5, 3.2v
Video: ATI X800XT PCI-E
HDD: Seagate 15k 36gig on LSI controller
HSF: Swiftech MCX775-V w/ Shin Etsu thermal compound

This system runs great at these settings. I would like to run it at a lower multi but my ram won't do 265fsb at 1:1 so this is the best I can get until I can get some faster ram (sure hate to get rid of the corsair bh5 though.. it runs some awesome speeds for PC3500)

Anyway.... back to the subject.... at system temps of 29-30c my cpu temp is 36-38c idle and after running 2 instances of folding@home and playing Doom3 the CPU temp is 58-62c. I don't consider these temps bad for 4.2ghz. I'm planning on replacing the Swiftech with a Thermalright SP-94 soon, the bracket to make this possible wasn't available when I bought the Swiftech.

How'd you get it with a 17x multiplier?

Changed Chip to 3.0Ghz Prescott.
New readings:
CPU: LGA 775 3.0 @ 3520.0 MHz
Idle Temp(C): 45c
Max Temp(C): 70c
Mobo Idle Temp(C):32c
Mobo Max Temp(C): 40c
Cooling Solution: Thermaltake JUNGLE 512
Fans: 2 80mm intake @ 2500 rpm, Thermaltake UFO 90mm (80 bracket), 80mm mod'd CPU on GeForce 5300 @ 2500 rpm
HDD: Seagate SATA 120 Gb + CoolerMaster AeroGate II
Mobo: ABIT AA8-DURMAX
Monitoring Software: ABIT's uGuru Software + MBM's uGuru plugin.
MEM: 2 x Corsair DDR2-SDRAM PC4300 - 256 MBytes
FSB Freq: 234.7 MHz
Mem, FSB, CPU, etc = CPU-Z version 1.26
Load simulator = 4 instances of "CPU Burn-in" ver 1.01 for 30Min.

Smooth running, Abit's OCGuru auto controls the fans' speed based on temp; only louder when it needs to be.

Using TuneXP version 1.5 and loads Eclipse 3.1 ide in -3 seconds

"Buuuttttt thhattts not right. Your software must be off by 10 noooo nooo 20 degrees C. Everyone knows prescotts idle hotter than a toaster oven"

I'm honestly not sure if this is good... I probably should replace the retail HSF with a better one, and add another 120mm fan to the case front. Any other suggestions?

I posted results for my 2.8 Prescott... I have two suggestions for you. (1) Add options for people to specify either their socket (478/775) or combine that with the processor selection (i.e.: P4 520 as a different entry than P4 2.8, which refers to Northwood core).. (2) What about OC? My 2.8 is oc'ed to about 3.2 at this point, so my temps might be slightly higher than a stock 2.8.

Hope I'm not being too critical. Good survey othewise!

Nope feedback is always appreciated.

However, this survey is for Prescott chips only. So there should be no 2.8C (Northwood) chips only 2.8E (Prescott 478). It would have been to cumbersome to do a skt 478 and sky 775 survey. Since Most folks are already putting the speed and socket its easy to see that a 2.8 SKT 775 is a P4 520.

Your mobo idle (31C) are a tad high..my is ~26 (room : 23C) room temp influence cpu/mobo temps a lot. look over your mobo temps case ventalation Thermally advantaged chassis

I've ownend 6northwoods (1.8-3.2ghz)and 3 prescotts (2.4-3.2ghz) even though prescott can operate at a higher temp without throttling i found that max temp for perfect stability should never go above 60C imo.
