I used to be an active Tennis player, and seeing as how I am 15lbs overweight and have some free time, I'd like to get back into it. Soooooo.. What racquet do you prefer? All of my gear was given to local thrift stores. Any input on new items that are available etc. is appreciated. Oh and state how active of a player you are.

I used to have a Wilson Hammer and Sledge Hammer, State the price as well if you post your racquet.

Head Liquidmetal Prestige 632

I try to play at least once a week and have been playing since I was 6. If you are a very aggressive player with a fast swing and are looking for control over power the Head Prestige line is the way yo go.

Try out rackets first and see which you like

If you suck. Use the same racket you're using now.

If you're average, a Dunlop 200G would do nice. A bit stiff and dead, but I get accurate shots out of em. Otherwise you could try a Prince Prestige or Triple Threat Warrior.

If you're PROFESSIONAL, Head Flexpoint or Liquidmetal Radical. Seriously, you MUST be really good to use one of them. For when you swing in, the momentum of the racket is hard to control since it's really fast (even though really have).

Tennis Warehouse is a good place to research.

I am here to proclaim myself the best tennis player in ATOT LOL. Eventhough I haven't played in like 8 years I pwned ATOT tennis club. BTW do not go with the gimmics get the Original Pro Staff 85. Not the 90's version but the early 80's kevlar version. The two greatest players of all time play with it, sampras and federer. Note Federer still plays the original prostaff but painted to look like the Ncode to sell more new rackets. Or the old Head Prestige that Ivanisevic used to play

EDIT: Oh yeah eventhough the new rackets weigh a lot less the prostaff and prestige are headlight so they play a lot more manuverable than their weight indicates and I'm no physics major but you do want some kind of weight/mass on your shots to give it some "heavyness". So don't go with the super light rackets. Never played the Babolat racket but so many pros play it that it is probably a good stick

I learned playing on the orig pro staff 93 (Edberg's raquet), also played the 85 (Sampras) edition but I play with more topsin now and Head Prestige series provides more control IMHO when ripping topsin.

PS: I would easily own u on the court

I don't take any internet tennis tough guy guff from anyone. I say instead of a LAN party we should have a tennis party get together (sounds too gay?).

Former JV here, but I got lazy and fat since then.

Used Head before, but I only keep the old Pro Staff and some Prince racquet in the closet for any day the SO wants to go out and play (She has never swung a tennis racquet!).

ATOT Golf tourney FTW!

Bah ignore all these noobs. "Head is better. Prince is best! Wilson pwns!"

Your best bet is to go to your local rec center or wherever has tennis courts and a shop, and demo some of their racquets from different brands. Get the one you like most.

I'm a college tennis player and I use Head Prestige racquets (the older style, not the flexpoint). It's a great control stick but has a small head and doesn't generate a lot of power. It's a pain in the a$$ to string too

Can anyone here slice the ball so when it goes to the other side it spins toward the net?

That's not very difficult to do...

because if you're behind the baseline this is a very low percentage shot and you can't disguise your preparation that well. If the ball lands shorter inside the baseline a regular shot with you approaching the net is a much easier and a higher percentage play

18x20. Yeah, I have a couple i.prestiges and I hate stringing them. Too many crosses.
