Former LC manager here. I spent 6 years in the trenches there.
Let me give you a quick insight on how the pricing at those kinds of places works: The bread has a food cost of roughly $.20, the sauce maybe another $.20. However with the new pricing for their pizzas, their food cost is through the roof. When I was there you wanted labor cost under 30% and food cost at around 35%. But the new pricing doesn't allow for that. Your food cost is going to be up near 60% for the pizza and labor cost will be probably remain about the same. The only way possible is to upcharge on the add on stuff.
So its pretty easy to get your old pricing back: Have everyone stop buying the $5 pizzas and have them start ordering the $10 ones. In a year or two, you will have your cheap bread back.

the only place worse than LC is CiCi's. that's as low as it gets, and the buffet price shows it.
LC is popular because it is incredibly cheap. You only see lines for dinner time, and you can feed a family of 4 for about 10 dollars, I think. That doesn't mean it is good, just that people get used to it when they depend on the value.
For whatever reason, the breadsticks at various shitty pizza joints are always much better than the pizza. Gumby's pizza, for example, is horrible. But the Pokey Sticks are godlike.

this explains why my LC is always asking me if i want a deep dish or crazy breads in addition to the $5 pizza i just ordered. $5 is a pretty amazing price for a large pizza, its about a third what everyone else charges, so id never complain about them, even if sometimes their pizza has hydrated (?) bread from sitting there too longFormer LC manager here. odd, a few years ago there weren't any around here, now there are 4 or 5 I personally know of close by, none of them look to be going anywhere, all are usually pretty busy. In a metropolitan area there is a very large proportion of low income people, $5 for a large pizza starts looking mighty attractive.

8 pieces of crazy bread. not really 8 though since a few are skinnier or shorter than others. if you bought crazy bread you know they dont come even. and sauce that is half full. that is not worth $3.99. i ate crazy bread my whole life but have to give it up at this price.
