Good news! I was hoping for another Lakers Championship next year!

Phil Jackson is probably the greatest coach in NBA history.

Well at least you Californicators have something in sports to be happy about, because USC and the Raiders are going to be letting you down for quite some time

Don't worry, after LeBron goes to the Clippers, there will be new kings (no pun intended) of the Staples Center.

Love it.

Here's my plan for next season:

7 games. Lakers vs Whoever in the east gets Bron and Bosh.

Everyone else take the year off.

7 games??? Like I said this past series, with the talent the Lakers have there's no reason it should have even gone to 7 games.

I guess I should have said Best-of-7. The season won't need all 7 games (much less 82+playoffs).

Well the celtics DID beat everyone in the East, so why not?

Some people think the lakers have too much talent on paper not to just steamroll everyone. For instance, lakers are a team where the sum seems to be less than the individuals together.

Boston is kind of a team where the sum is greater than the individuals added together.

I'm just wondering what teams are going to donate players to the Lakers for nothing next like Memphis did. They were basically given a player (Gasol) for free and they never would've sniffed the title without him.

I'm assuming they're working on a sign and trade to send Lamar Odom to Cleveland for Lebron James. That seems fair I think.

Because all Californians root for those teams since they have no others in each respective sport... Oh wait...

You could've at least named teams from the same area with the slight chance that they share the same fan base. The Raiders are several hundred miles away from the other two!

No team in the NBA since the Payton, Malone, Kobe Lakers team has had this much talent. They should easily beat other teams but as we know, many of the players seem to forget to show up most of the time and Kobe has to bail them out. The Spurs, the only other consistently very good team this decade, won a ton but still didn't have as many good players as this Lakers team has.

I don't agree that this team is as totally loaded as you think. I'm no expert, but I watch a lot of NBA shows and listen to alot of podcasts from people as reputable as you can get I guess. Most every one has said this team is far from great. They're good, but not great. Their point guard can't guard anyone, and flops more than anyone in the league. When he drives on people he can't beat them off the dribble so he just steamrolls into the paint and flails his arms in the air screaming. Pretty sad to watch.

Kobe is great, one of the best ever. Gasol is a good big man, one of the top 5 in the league. Ron Artest? He's a basketcase. He's a decent defender, and laid more bricks and had more embarrassing offensive sequences in the playoffs that I've just about ever seen. Bynum can't play half the game without his injuries limiting him. Their bench is one of the worst in the league. Odom is decent, but as you know he only shows up in about half their games. Other than that their bench is really bad. So no, this team isn't amazing. It's well coached and has decent players, but nothing more.

I wouldn't say it was free as Gasol's younger brother is pretty decent, but yeah 'next to nothing' sounds good.

I'm sure they'll find a way as they always manage to have superstars fall into their lap.

Probably a team in financial trouble. I'm guessing the Hornets donate Chris Paul to them.

I didnt know there was even a debate about that

I'm sure plenty will still tow the Red Aurbach line. I mean, he did modernize the game--he gave us the Fast Break.

Not only has there not been an equally revolutionary change in how the NBA game is played since then, Phil hasn't really contributed such an influence to the game itself.

He is awesome, no doubt; he certainly knows how to win (you can criticize him for winning with the greatest players of their generation--but actually winning with that kind of talent is waaaay harder than it seems) and I would consider him the best as well--but he isn't exactly historical, if you know what I mean.

Haha so true. I just wish some other teams could win for once. I am a fan of no team, but why can't other teams win and compete, like Minnesota, Golden State, Clippers, Memphis, lots more etc? It's annoying when the same teams win every year and then they're given handouts like that. It's not fun for the average fan, at least not for me. Way too predictable.

If these other teams have no chance of winning, why are they even in the league?

I hear ya, I'm a Raptors fan so it's even worse for us as we always have to deal with the talk that nobody wants to play in Canada.

If LeBron, Wade, and Bosh or whoever get together and join the same team, I think it's going to tough to watch the NBA anymore.
