I need a new show to watch, help a brotha out.

I just finished Battlestar Gallactica + loved it. Loved Firefly/Serenity too.. I havent seen any of the other modern shows ~ Stargate series(saw the movie though  ), Babalon 5, etc

Didn't like original Star Trek, some of the movies were ok though *KAAAAAAAANN*
Star Trek Next Gen was good
Deep Space Nine was pretty good
Didnt like Enterprise..

I heard there was a scifi/comedy called red planet, or red dwarf from the UK that was pretty good. I was thinking about going after that one next.

Stargate: Atlantis is a very good show and the original Stargate was awesome (now over). The shows are 100x better than the movie.

don't let Stargate the movie turn you off to Stargate the series. MacGuyver rules as O'Neill.

Red Dwarf is a British comedy. Think Old Doctor Who + Odd Couple... cracks me up, but if you don't like the sound of it as I described it, you probably won't like it.

I highly reccomend the new Dr. Who's they're good scifi
My wife will watch Stargate Atlantis but not sg1...

So you have NOT seen babylon 5? Maybe that one.

The new doctor who is decent.

Farscape is decent.

One of my guilty pleasures is the 4400...

space: above and beyond.

written by the same people that wrote the xfiles. was a pretty good show that only lasted one season because fox dicked with its schedule all the time.

The stargates, definitely. My wife is NOT into those shows, yet I got her hooked on SG1 and Atlantis. Now I get to call her the geek when she gets the "Get into the gate" trivia questions right

The season of Enterprise where they went after the Zindi was pretty good and I liked some of the Voyager ones (Species 8472 anyone?) - Actually I just finished the 7th season today

Heh, I love Voyager. Was happy when SpikeTV started syndicating it, had been years since I watched it.

You seen any of the Star Trek movies with TNG cast? I really liked First Contact.

Not space exploration sci-fi as the other suggestions have been, but Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is awesome if you're into anime and cyberpunk sci-fi.

Stargate SG1 was excellent...at least up until RDA left the show. Babylon 5 was truly phenomenal though, and it would get my recommendation without hesitation. Farscape is hit and miss for people.

Red Dwarf is utterly hilarious. It's very, very short (8 seasons, 8-10 eps a season) but so worth it.

B5 for long, mythic story arcs. You have to realize season 1 is really just laying the foundation for what's to come, season 2 is where it starts to get really good, with seasons 3 and 4 being far and away the best ones.

And more for Farscape (more of an acquired taste than some series, but good action and twisted humor), SG1 (could never really get into Atlantis myself), and the new Dr Who (The first two seasons rock hard, season 3 is kind of 'Meh' IMO thus far). If you do like the new Doctor series, look into downloading Torchwood, the spinoff. More soap-opera-ish than a lot of series, but still watchable.

For crass comedy, there's Tripping the Rift. And a good show in general, even though it's a cartoon, is Invader Zim.

Not sure what happened to the show...but I was starting to get into the Dresden Files on the Scifi channel - more Fantasy than Scifi though.

I don't have too much experience with British Comedy, however I loved the office, and those Shawn of the Dead - Hot Fuzz Movies so maybe I will give it a shot. If its that dry, sarcastic stuff I'm in..

I'll definitely check out the Stargate, and look into the Dr. Who( never heard of that one)

Nope, haven't seen Babylon yet.. I was considering it though. Farscape is a new name for me, will have to check it out.

I completely forgot about 4400. I think I made it through season 1 and 2, but haven't followed up on it since. Very cool show, I started getting that "The Stand" vibe (Steven King) twords the end.

Sounds good, but I dont know if my heart can take another Firefly scenario .. That show was so good, I started getting depressed twords the end (since I knew there would be no more coming) I really really wish there had been more done with it.

I'll recommend B5. The first few episodes are pretty hokey, but about halfway through season 1 you get the hint something big is about to go down, in season 2 you really get an idea for what it is, but you still don't know much about it, and in season 3 and 4 the #$%% really hits the fan. The last season is disappointing though.

Look for show called "Threshold." It lasted only a year, but it was really good. Very much ahead of it's time. It starred Brent Spiner (Data from ST:TNG) and Peter Dinklage ("The Station Agent").

If you're willing to include Sci-Fi conspiracy shows, Nowhere Man is pretty good. The first half of the season is a bit weak, but overall it's one of my favorite series. A pity it only lasted one season.
