Oh, some of it's dry and sarcastic. And there's a good deal of gross-out, too. The interplay between Lister and Rimmer is always a highlight, and the mockery they make of classic sci fi tropes are very clever.Originally posted by: Yreka
I don't have too much experience with British Comedy, however I loved the office, and those Shawn of the Dead - Hot Fuzz Movies so maybe I will give it a shot. If its that dry, sarcastic stuff I'm in..Originally posted by: djheater
Red Dwarf is a British comedy. Think Old Doctor Who + Odd Couple... cracks me up, but if you don't like the sound of it as I described it, you probably won't like it.
I highly recommend the new Dr. Who's they're good scifi
My wife will watch Stargate Atlantis but not sg1...
Dude, how could you have never heard of Doctor Who? It had a 26 year run, from 63 to 89, longest of any sci fi series. It's to UK sci fi what Star Trek is to America. Thankfully the new series was geared towards allowing new viewers to catch up with relative ease.I'll definitely check out the Stargate, and look into the Dr. Who (never heard of that one)
You won't regret it. As was said above, though, don't worry if the first season is a bit dull. Season 2 is where it really begins. It's also amusing to see early generation CGI-for-TV work and how quickly it evolves over the 5 years the show ran. The original 5 seasons and the movie set are what you'd want to see. For the movies there's a prequel story you'll want to avoid until after seeing the whole series, though still watch the pilot episode first.Nope, haven't seen Babylon yet.. I was considering it though.

Look for show called "Threshold." It lasted only a year, but it was really good. Very much ahead of it's time. It starred Brent Spiner (Data from ST:TNG) and Peter Dinklage ("The Station Agent").

That show was horribly bad.

Gotta remember Dr. Who is essentially a kid's show and always has been. Yes, it is watchable by adults (I sometimes watch it myself), but don't expect sex and violence...

/edit: but Billie Piper in the first two seasons is hot

Stargate: Atlantis is a very good show and the original Stargate was awesome (now over). The shows are 100x better than the movie.
