[/b]Not long ago we posted about a "Universal Installer" concept, it got some decent response. These were the Original Configuration ideas:
1) Graphical install
It is a GUI based Install, thats flexible in will allow for lots of different installations and parameters. Including unlimited CPU support, so if you have 8 it will install 8 automatically.
2) Option to install on network or single PC
You will have the option to install Locally on Win9X/ME/NT/2K/XP and remotly on WinNT/2K/XP
3) Abilty to schedule runtimes
A GUI interface to select 24/7 or customized "runtimes", even selection to run over weekends
4) Option to choose TeAm or personal proxies
Manually input your SETIQ settings or choose to use one of the other TeAm proxies
5) For the program to install as a service on Win9x/ME - WinNT/2K/XP
Yes, see #1
6) Option to install logging program (SETIdriver - SETILog)
It looks as if we will be adding a uniuque and new program just for the FlexInstaller as opposed to using other peoples programs
7) If its a network install, a program installed to control the clients.
GUI to STOP, START, INSTALL and UNINSTALL client services remotely, and even check the status of the service on the remote PC, this will be in the form of a "Tools" program for the LAN Install
So there you have it! Hopefully with more and continued support we will be able to add the Win9X/ME LAN option, Graphical features about the processes and completion times per Wu and many other great ideas that have been brought up and requested. When You ask? Tentitive release sometime this week! (01-21/26-02)
I want to be sure that everyone knows that there were some great people behind this effort and that bot2600 has done a great deal of the big time work. I would all hope that you extend to him and this effort a great deal of credit for the work and if you can to pitch in with more ideas and even scripts, VBscript, Jscript, Shell, whatever, it will only beinfit all here on this great TeAm.
