Well. That'll show... Ummmm... Yeah.

They will just appoint a new acting AG.

Edit. Already done. Dana Boente sworn in already.

And congressional approval will be voiced by Repub silence. Or is approval by the Senate not required?

When you think about it it's actually genius on her part. Without doing this she would have just been quietly replaced and that would have been it. Now, a whole additional news cycle of terrible press for Trump and she goaded him into firing her instead of just waiting a few days for Sessions to be confirmed.

As acting AG she had basically no power and only about a week in office. She was able to play Trump masterfully with such a limited hand. God this guy is so incompetent. I imagine his staffers were screaming at him to just get her replaced. Instead he made her a martyr. Sad!

They've framed firing her in completely the wrong way, though I'm sure Donnie's biggest supporters are going to eat it up.

You don't say a public servant like Yates has "betrayed" the DoJ or the country or whatever in an official statement from the goddamn White House. That's just divisive and pours more gasoline on the fire. Get ready for bigger protests this week.

Edit: IMO, better to thank her for her service but state that the administration cannot abide an acting attorney general who will not implement the executive orders of the president.

Yes, if only the Democrats had nominated the person who got crushed by Clinton, haha.
Yes, the candidate crushed by Clinton in states she would't carry in the general election, and the only candidate capable of blocking Trump's narrow path to victory through the rust belt.

But what about putting in a temporary ban for 90 days so there could be a more effective vetting process? Doesn't that sound like a better idea so everyone wouldn't be so irate that they're banning all Muslims permanently?

No, this is on Trump voters, 100%. If you voted for Trump, this disgrace is on you.
I actually wrote in Bernie Sanders so I put about 55% of the disgrace on Trump voters and 45% of the disgrace on Clinton for managing to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory.

But she betrayed our Great Leader! And that's exactly the same thing!

Sorry, but I refuse to believe that the voters Trump picked up in the rust belt would have ever voted for Bernie. That's just my opinion.

Diverting to Hillary, as usual. Oh, and poor Bernie! So cheated!

Yep. Clearly a person of intelligence, principle, and character. Unfortunately, none of those attributes are going to be tolerated by this administration.

or a partisan hack holdover from a now out regime...Do your job...good riddance

Yes, yes- as if the whole thing from Trump isn't just shameless & likely lawless base pandering. If he intended to reduce the likelihood of Terrarists! getting into this country he'd have aimed the ban at countries where they are known to originate.

Too easy, obviously.

The Sauds are still our friends to the end. 9/11 was simple jocularity between dear friends.

So what, if Trump didn't want to carry Obama's defiant baggage. She was only serving in the interim, until Sessions is confirmed. This is only for a few more days anyway. Hardly anything for peeps to be having a hissy fit over.

funny how hypocritical you all are...as I posted in another thread:

There is much angst and frustration around this having supposedly violated constitutional rights of Green Card holders and those on a visa, yet it seems when talking about gun control which is a constitutional right "extreme vetting" with lengthy waiting periods and thorough background checks is perfectly acceptable to what I'd guess is many of the same folks out protesting and whining about this.....which makes it seem like its ok to forego some rights in the name of safety and not others even if it only "inconveniences those who play by the rules"

And as shown with other public servants they are elected and appointed to do a job, her job was upholding the orders of the President....firing her was the right move.

Her job was upholding the Constitution, which she did, and for which she was fired by Trump.

You think gun control vetting is anywhere as rigorous as green card or visa vetting?

And the AG's job is not to uphold the orders of the President, it's to upload the Law.

For what it's worth, the POTUS's first duty is to uphold the US Constitution.
