If you can, try and find locals with the suspension setups you're considering. It helped me quite a bit when I went with the Bilsteins over a similarly priced setup by another. Especially as I was able to experience them on the track.

I'm also not sure what you're on about Vdub. Carbon build up is normal in any DI engine and with proper maintenance and care you won't have any adverse affects.

It's not normal at all. Go ahead and try to find similar issue for any other car maker and there is no where as near issues as German engines.

I haven't paid $0.01 to this car for maintenance or warranty work since I got it. This would be an entirely different story had this been out of warranty.

Expect the trend to continue. ESPECIALLY if you are modified.

Have your wallet ready hehe and good luck

Here is a clip I made from inside my car today.

I originally made it to showcase the exhaust noise change when TSC kicks in because a friend didn't know what I was talking about, so that is why the first part is bit enthusiastic. After that its just normal driving without a radio. The tyres are at the end of their life so they are a lot noisier than they should be. A few times I put my foot down, I'm in 6th, just to give some noise from the exhaust. The rest of the time is just me driving normally, mostly at a constant speed of 55mph.

All windows up, sunroof closed. No radio.

And here is a short sound clip of what the car sounds like under a very short overpass.

I hesitated to post this because I'm sure it'll build up some anti-VW sentiments but...here it goes! I'll rehash the whole story here even though I posted part of it earlier in the thread.

When I first got my car I had it around 2 weeks when I got a "Low oil pressure" warning when going around a very curvy on ramp. I just blamed it on the high speed I was cornering and it just moved the oil below the sensor line.

The issue happened again. And again. And again. Every 2.5-4k miles I would get the light. First, around high speed cornering (nothing brutal, just hugging the corner like the car is perfectly capable of) and then slowly started being most sharp turns. I took it to the dealer at least 6 times and even left it there multiple times. It always came back as operating as intended, no issues found.

Finally, the car started turning itself off. No idea why until the dealer ran the codes - the crank case oil level was too low and it was killing the engine to prevent damage. They did an oil consumption test and combustion test, determined it was bad piston rings (apparently a known issue but not common on a 2.0TSI) and went to replace them. When they pulled the cylinder head off the realized the valve guide seal for cylinder 2 was torn. They stopped there and ordered a new cylinder head. They repaired it, got it back to me, and it ran fine for 4k miles.

Then the issues started happening again. Very quickly I got low oil pressure around any corner, no matter the speed. Finally, when test driving it with the dealer manager it threw a CEL for low oil pressure/cam shaft fault. They took it and tested, decided it need piston rings again and actually replaced them this time. Since then (1.4k miles) its been fine, we will see.

HOWEVER, this was not the end. I was fed up, I added up my days without my car because of this issue and it was over 30. I had been to the dealer 10 times for the same issue and needed two engine tear downs in 4 months. I called VoWA and complained, like a proper american. They aligned with my issues and agreed this was ridiculous. They have offered me very good trade assistance for a brand new 2015 GTI that I can take advantage of any time before 4/31/2015, so I plan to wait for the performance package variant of the 2015 MK7 due out at the end of the year. So I'm going to trade this car in eventually, I just do not feel confident keeping it with all this work having needed to be done. I've done the calculations and with more options and a price increase I should have a lower car payment per month without a down payment after the discount. I'll also be saving a lot of money to put down on it. It sucks, I do not want to do this, but I also do not want a performance german car out of warranty after its needed two open heart surgeries in 18 months of ownership.

Well the blows. So if u didn't want to trade in the gti, would they offer anything else?

How many miles now? My friends love The tsi motor and seem to be problem free. FSI drank all the oil.

I've seen many good vw and many bad ones as well.

I like VW but I don't think I'd be able to double down and get another one after those issues.

That screams 'lemon law' to me.

http://www.dmv.org/automotive-law/lemon-law.php

In my state a lemon must meet the following criteria:

I'd be getting rid of that car ASAP.
I am going to look into that.

The issue here is the car is modified. Lemon Laws do not necessarily apply to cars that have been modified.
Never have they mentioned the modifications nor has it been an issue when getting it serviced. It also originated well before any modifications.

Good idea to trade it in, 2.0T is like the lottery: 1 in 4 is perfect, 2 consume oil, and the fourth one has to be rebuilt...
