Hi..
I am fixin' up my first ATX case ...Antec KS282/MSI Pro 2/Duron 650.
I am getting no power. I have hooked the wires from the case to the board ..i.e. power switch, and the others.
I plugged it straight to the wall, and it may be that I do have a bad keyboard ...but, should it not do something.
Please help.

If you push power on and nothing happens then you probably have the connector in backwards.

I will look again, but it has a clip on the side of the socket that seems to indicate one way only.

I meant to flip the power-on button connector that attaches to the row of metal pins next to the reset/hd/etc connectors.

OK...I will try that. If I have that switch connected, and the power supply lead, should it fire up? The reason I ask, there are other leads from the case ..such as speaker, HD LED ..the others. The power switch lead should be the main one, and the only one of these needed to make it go, right?

I am thinking of just placing a jumper over the two pins where that lead goes, just in case the switch itself is malfuntioning. What do you think?
Thanks for your help.

I think when you follow tonec's advise and redo your connects from the case to the motherboard, you will find your solution. The power switch lead from the case to the mo/bo is reversed.

Thanks for your help. I called Antec, and after doing the gem clip in the plug bit, I find I have a bad power supply. New one on way.
Oh, well. A few more days till I can Duron.

I read it from a faq page here, that basically says:

To fire up an ATX PS, you must have enough load on it, which means you must have a working mobo with a working video card, memory, and cpu properly inserted. In other words, you need a working computer to test the PS unless you have a tester that simulates the load. You can't just plug it, turn it on, and expect the fan to turn. So typically, a PS not firing up may mean something else is wrong.
