atx motherboard with 2 bent serial connections---------it fires up....what are the risks?

i have this asus p2b mb...... the serial and parallel ports on the back of the mb are all bent to hel........but the old fella still fires up............what kind of risks do i run setting up a system with a bent out of wack......back connection?

you should be fine, just disable them in the bios so there isnt any power going back there

provided the pins don't touch one another, then there should be no risk at all. your only problem might be is if you want to use one of the ports, most likely the ltp1 port & can't make a good connection.

I heard from a friend that I trust that the serial ports are designed to withstand a short between any pins on the serial port. To be safe you could desolder the serial connectors or clip them off with a side cutters, depending on how accessible they are.
