I am trying to build a system with the Elitegroup P965T-A v1. I can get the board to power up but there is no siginal sent to the mointor. I have an atx 2 power supply but it does not have a atx12v1 8 pin auxiliary power connector. Is this essential for the board to power up?

Could my brand new pcie video card be the culprit? Any other feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Connecting Case Components
After you have installed the motherboard into a case, you can begin connecting
the motherboard components. Refer to the following:
1 Connect the CPU cooling fan cable to CPUFAN.
2 Connect the system cooling fan connector to SYSFAN.
3 Connect the Northbridge cooling fan connector to NBFAN.
3 Connect the case switches and indicator LEDs to the PANEL1.
4 Connect the standard power supply connector to ATX1.
5 Connect the auxiliary case power supply connector to ATX12V1.
6 Connect the connector for graphics interface to ATX4P1.

Refer to step 5 of your manual...

And I assume you did connect to 4 pin aux power connector?

I did connect 4. Step 5 can not be completed with this power supply. Could that be the problem?

I did not mean did you connect step 4...I meant did you connect the 4 pin power connector(step 6)?

And yes, if you did step 6 I anticipate the lack of a 8 pin power connector is your problem.

My graphics card does not have a plug to go into step 6. According to the manual I suppose to connect a standard 4 pin atx power cable to this plug or the machine will be unstable.

That plug isn't from your graphics card...its from your power supply....

First, did you connect a 4 pin molex connector to the motherboard as per step 6?

I am not sure what you mean by molex. It is the same connector as on the hard drive or cd burner. I did connect a standard atx power connector to the ATX4P1.

This one isn't too expensive, and is made by one of the best psu brands in the industry: Enermax Liberty 500 watt It's only 500 watts, but it a) that isn't max output and b) it has dual 22 amp 12v rails. Of course, it's modular, but we can't always have everything, right?

edit: According to newegg's description, it's a 20+4 pin, but it's got the other connector, too. I own one, so I'm sure.

After going through 3 different power supplies I found one with the two 4 pin connectors to ATX12V1. The machine is rock solid so far.
