I have an A1 Electronics 300W ATX power supply that has a few parts missing inside, and I think they have something to do with turning the fan on and off or with varying its speed according to temperature. The parts are Q7, Q8 (both may be small transistors), C30, R26, R28, R30, and R31. Currently, two of the pins for the missing Q8 are tied together to ground the fan's negative terminal. One outer leg of Q7 ties to the +12V and also through R26 to the other outer terminal.
A1 Electronics can't or won't tell me what these parts do, but does anybody have an idea? If the fan is controlled by temperature, could Q7 be a temperature controller IC? I see some diodes connected to the missing resistors but can't tell if any are for temperature sensing.
Is the power supply fan supposed to stay on when the computer is in suspend mode?
