For a (very small) crackrack I've placed the components on a piece of wood instead of a case. But it won't boot. Do I have to attach the p/s case to the mainboard? (what the metal case would do normally)
Or is there another trick to make this work?
First of all: THANKS GUYS, problem solved!
And the problem was.................. The keyboard! Maybe I've dropped it or something, but the keyboard made the whole system lock up. Last time I used it, it was good, so I didn't suspect this. I unplugged everything, even the floppy drive, but the cpu-fan wouldn't spin with the keyboard and mouse connected. So I disconnected those too and then it would boot, so plugged everything in, first video, then the keyboard and it locked.
Russmanuk, your tip helped a lot. After testing with the green and black wire, the fan worked OK, then I knew it wasn't the p/s.
