With the news of the Corvette C8 Z06 being significantly delayed, I've been looking at the R8. The 2022 MY looks very promising. A good bump in power with Carbon Ceramic brakes and select mode exhaust as options.

Seems like a good deal considering the price of other supercars.

The R8 is a sweet car. But that price compared to a C8...

Of course availability does influence a buying decision as much as price IMO.

Nobody actually knows the price of a C8 Z06. It will obviously be higher than a base C8. The 2016 Z06 I had an MSRP of $110K. $120K to $150K wouldn't be a surprise. At least for the one I'd want.

Order placed. Deposit made.

Base model with the only option of no front plate holder ($0).

Timing it to have it delivered after my new house has been built.

Soon to be northern Columbus area. No year round enjoyment. The first few months of ownership will have it mostly in a garage until Spring.

Now we officially know it's coming in 2023. I doubt I'll regret getting an R8 instead.

Nice! Always liked the R8. Very understated exotic. How are the maintenance and insurance costs?

I've heard anywhere from $2K to $3K a year in maintenance. Probably on the lower end for me since I won't be driving it very much. It will have 1 year of free maintenance. Insurance will be around $150 a month for the months I will be driving. Less than $40 a month in the Winter for storage insurance.

Too rich for me but not too bad. How long did they say the wait was going to be?

Congrats! I would have gone with the wagon, the more practical 700hp grocery hauler.

This is why I am targetting MB E63 Wagon xd. Had a E350 4Matic and it works nicely in winter assuming you give it proper winter tires. I had Blizzaks. Money pit it was.

A big negative aspect of Winter driving is the salt and moisture. Any fun car I own stays away from that stuff.

please strap a mic to the rear and and record the glorious sounds of that V10.

My S6 V10 is patiently awaiting my attention to address a coolant leak and battery drain (I bought a house and have been busy with that. but on the plus side I now have a portable lift to make getting the S6 up much easier!)

I've been thinking of getting a Capristo exhaust for it. Those with R8s seem to like them. Looks like an easy install too.

My order has finally been accepted. Scheduled build is on Feb 25th. Good timing for a Spring delivery.

It took 6 months for your order to be accepted? Was it because the dealer you went through didn't have an allocation or was it because production hadn't started yet for that MY?
