Late May and all of June was when orders for the 22 MY were being accepted. All of those that ordered at the time took delivery of their R8 between October and November.

The dealership didn't have an allocation. Nobody else had an allocation. Audi closed all new allocations right around the time I put the deposit down. They didn't open it up until just a few days ago (5 month total timespan). I was in the front of the line this whole time.

I'm glad I held out on my R8 order even if it's nine months from deposit to delivery. I've been hearing anyone that wants one of the last R8s is going to be out of luck since the wait-list is so long. Autotrader is even showing used 2021 / 2022 R8 RWD models going for over $200K. Granted, those have a few options more than my base R8. I could still take delivery of mine and make a $30k profit by selling it right away. I won't do that though.

So glad this didn't end up at the bottom of the ocean, especially because we can still have that AT meetup that you promised where we could all have a go in your R8, paying for our track time as well.

So generous!

Almost forgot I said that.

I'll have it at the end of next month according to the dealership. Hope they don't put a last minute dealer adjusted markup on it. They promised they won't, but you never know with car salesmen. Been hearing stories about that recently with R8 orders. I think Audi of America would have my back if they did pull that. It's not like it's a recent order.

I assume they would too if you signed an agreement with the stated price.

Awesome car, post pics when you get it.

I'm looking at an EV later this year once the supply eases up, either a Taycan CT or EQS, or maybe that Lucid Air.

I'll be sure to take plenty of photos. Moved money for the car to my primary bank. Buying it outright. No loan. Setup insurance today through USAA. About $2K every 6 months.

Congrats! I agree buying something outright is the way to do it. I cannot stand loans and paying interest. Hopefully someday I can buy a car with ETH or something.

Sometimes this is true unless you get free money from someone else. I like to take out interest free loans when possible and spread my outlay over a couple of years. Let's my money make money while the lender loses money.

Exactly, it's better to finance and invest the difference in assets if you can get a low rate. I have a 0 down, 0% rate on my current car, although that might be hard to get now.

If it were possible to get a 0% interest loan for the R8 I would certainly do it. I don't think that has ever been available for the R8. The R8 has generally been excluded from any Audi promotional deals.
