Googlegear has it for 119.99 plus .50 shipped second day. Reviews on this card are great. Seen 2 here and here. They say there are improvements over the standard Audigy. For people like me who have the original SB Live card this seems like a hot deal.

EDIT:
Best Buy has this card for $129.99 - $30.00 Mail-In Rebate.

Personally I think the audigy is sufficient enough, I wouldn't really want to spend over 100 on a soundcard.

Like decent drivers? No conflicts with VIA chipsets?

Too much $$$ for a sound card.

That's the cost of having the latest and greatest... Wait a month or two, the OEM version will be out. Just different connectors like creative always does, and they will be 40-60 dollars less...

"The Audigy cards released last year were just a preparation for the today's triumphant procession."

I can't wait for next year's review of Audigy 3/XP/Titanium/whateveryouwanttocallit.

"The Audigy 2 cards released last year were just a preparation for the today's triumphant procession."

One question about these cards. Could I just stick my Audigy Platinum Ex box into an Audigy 2 card and make it an Audigy 2 Ex? Is there any decoding that goes on in the box? Are they compatible?

preety good deal i say, but waiting for the OEM is probably a wiser decision. I have platinum 5.1 right now, but i would like to upgrade to 6.1 capabilities. luckily i don't buy the original augidy OEM.

one question though, will my live drive ( the SBlive 5.1 platinum version, the one with remote control and optical, but no firewire) works with the audigy 2?

I love the Audigy. ROck solid drivers, absolutely no conflicts with my VIA chipsets on the two computers I have the cards in. Incredible sound.

I don't see why you would need to get a different i/o drive. Most the connectors on there are digital, or stereo. so multi-channel support is totally handled by whatever is getting/sending the signal. The only difference I see on the new one is that it says "Audigy 2."

nice card! i am thinking we have almost reached the plateau in sound? it's not like video card industry where there is a tremendous potential. how far can a sound card company go in improving it? i guess you can always make it more clear and add 20.1 sound support

Creative sound cards = overpriced crap

If you need good audio input, get pro gear. If you like false advertizing, get Creative Labs! Heck, the best innovation they have produced is the Waveblaster header, which they no longer include on thier own cards because they couldn't stand the competition from Roland or Yamaha who made truely excellent add on boards!

/. FLUSH
(if you gotta crap, as might as well be polite and flush the john after...)

I was a big fan of Creative products. Im still somewhat of a fan, but now Im running more into WHAT should I be getting for a soundcard.

Soundblaster Live orginal in my dads comp...still running/working perfect. I might be stealing this soon.

Philips Acoustic Edge 706.....developed a problem with cackling with DVD playback. Everything else worked fine, just cackled on DVD. Was told to call customer support and discuss this with them. Like I really have a reciept or box or anything, so there it sits on top of my computer.

Consequently, my Philips CD-RW with 8MB buffer that I have raved about has developed some problems also lately. It clunks, cant read discs sometimes (that are perfect btw, no scratches) Im thinking down with Philips on everything!?

Soundblaster Audigy X-Gamer: Conflict with Via chipset. Either that or I destroyed it by overclocking the FSB by a measely 10Mhz.

Crystal soundcard: Cost me 7 bux. It locks sometimes during games and songs. No bass or treble adjustment which blows, but for 7 bux who cares.

Welp....there we have it. I dont know where to go now. Thinking about giving Creative another try since I have a intel chipset now with a agp/pci lock. Any hercules owners out there? Are there bass/treble adjustments on those cards via software? PM please and give me your opinions.

well after being with sb over the last 8 years or so, I have to say unfortunately, that the overall quality of the company and the products they release have gone downhill. You can't download audigy drivers over their website, the hardware card has minor (and annoying) bugs and conflicts, their "24-bit" D/A isn't truly 24-bit, it has no optical output, etc etc, their software and driver is buggy, etc etc.

Time for me to move on to a real sound card.

Bought a Game Theatre XP to replace my SBLive) a few weeks ago. I also thought it was time to switch camps, and I'm happy so far.
