The rebate receipt did printed out, just that they did not have the forms.

Is this card better then the Santa Cruz in terms of game play and music?

Thanks.

No. Santa Cruz is superior IMHO.

Listen to it. I've had one for about a year, the sound quality is superior. Search google if you're bored, most people agree.

I guess you didn't REALLY read my post! Just because YOU didn't like the sound quality of the Audigy doesn't mean it isn't good. It doesn't matter that you have owned every sound card. There are subjective and Objective evaluations of audio products. Its really a matter of personnel preference and no one persons opinion is right. If every single person in this thread was to say that the sound quality of this card sucked then that would be one thing, but when one person doesn't like it thats another matter.

Like hamburger vs Filet Mignon, Like Rosanne Barr vs Charlize Theron. I have nothing against Creative's product but what good are all the features when the output quality is poor?

I've owned them all- hercules Game Theatre, Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, Audigy 2, M audio revolution. And I put the Audigy on the bottom of the pile. Spend an extra $20 and get something your ears won't hate you for.

Well Dirtrat, well wearnone, I for one must say....Very well written; both of you. I guess it's a free-for-all though as Rat stated. Tuff call.

From my inexperience perspective view, I think the Santa Cruz is better in music listening like MP3s. However, in gaming the sound effects are better with the Audigy 2. The Santa Cruz has much cleaner and clearer sound at high volumes. The programs you use to play music also matters. The MusicMatch 8 and media player are what I use. The MusicMatch sounds better in both, but the Media play sounds clean with the Santa Cruz. With that said, I still cannot ever decide which card to go for. I got both now, but the Santa Cruz is much better in price.
It's a tough call b/c I do both gaming and music, more gaming than music.

Finally tracked one down, but I had to drive a little further.

This is simply the best gaming sound card you can get, and $79 is a great deal on it.

If it doesn't sound good in your system, it's time to upgrade those Koss speakers.

No, a Chevy Malibu and soon to be Honda owner. I'd be willing to bet you own a 8 Track player in your car if you are even old enough to understand what I'm talking about!

Hey! my Koss speakers are going to work till that melt damnit!
$79 is a nice price.
Too bad the Audigy 2 doesn't offer enough improvement to warrant an upgrade from the first.
Which by the way sound terrific on my Klipsch 5.1 GMX.

The deal is still on! Well sorta. I went into my local Compusa today and there was sitting a Audigy 2 with the price tag of $79.99. I immediately grabbed it, then I went to the register and it rang up at $129.99 ($138.57 with tax) I mentioned that the price tag explicitly said $79.99. I walked back and showed the price, and viola. I walked out of Compusa with the Audigy 2 for $79.99 (no rebate)

I'm very surprised no one else seen it sitting on the shelf with that price tag. whew

good deal

As it turns out, Fry's sent me the rebate form and it's the same exact one from CL's site, I got to buy a set of CL speakers to qualify for the $50 rebates. Fry's is suck dude. This is misadvertising since the ad does not say anything about having to buy a set of speakers. Too bad I threw away my ad pdf file. Does anyone has a copy of the Fry's ad from last Friday, Aug. 22?
Thanks.

I got a lot of hissing from my Hercules GT, and I think the Audigy 2 has better surround separation than the Turtle Beach, though the TB seems to put out more bass. It's a matter of opinion. The Aud2 is a very decent card...I just love to polarized comments people make in here.

"A Lotus sucks a$$ compared to a Porsche!" Like you wouldn't like to own either of them
