I've had my Audigy 2 ZS for a while, and i use the Audio Effects a lot, but lately whenever i try to use them (like selecting acoustic), there's just no sound at all. No matter why effect i try, it just makes everything silent, even though music is playing. Then uncheck the "Use Audio Effects" box, and i can hear the song again just fine. It used to work fine, like i mentioned. Anyone know how to fix it?

I don't need to, but i like to sometimes, different effects can be better for different things. I don't want to argue though, or chat about it in general, i'd just like to figure out how to fix it, thanks.

sometimes fixing creative problems can be a pain in the a*s.

My audigy2zs would keep resetting to 2.1 config on every reboot (i have 7.1 speakers), it finally took a reformat of the harddrive to straighten out the stupid thing, no matter how many times i uninstalled/reinstall (using creatives or 3rd party driver wiping tools), nothing would work.

I would dry uninstalling the drivers first (in safe mode preferably) then rebooting and reinstalling from the cd, then update with the newest drivers online.

or perhaps try driver updates first, although i'll assume you already tried that.

also reinstall directx if you can. i'm sure you've heard the drill before, drivers, drivers, drivers... i got tired of hearing it myself.

although i will say i reinstalled once before that and it didn't help, perhaps because the last time i also updated my bios (was 3 updates behind)...who knows.

good luck.

I was planning to buy an Audigy 2ZS for my new system, but now i'm likely to reconsider my choice. Any other issues to mention?
In addition to reinstalling the drivers, you might check if any other programs(affecting sound quality or effects) are present and running, because they might interfere with the card. What software do you use to play music? Try updating the software. Remember if you installed something that could have messed up your sound. Since it was working in the beginning, it's very unlikely to be the hardware, but most probably you installed something that was supposed to be "useful". Good luck!

You installing drivers & software from the CDs? There are newer versions available you could try instead.

yeah dude, I hear that. There's some menu somewhere where you can change the default setting, but I don't remember, I didn't even bother installing anything but the basic driver on the last XP reinstall

jacktackle - make sure it's not set to digital-output only (unless you're using a digital cable instead of the analog ones). also yeah, make sure its on 5.1.
