Audigy drivers

I'm using the Audigy Gamer card in Windows 98 SE. The installation CD that came with my retail card does not work for some reason--meaning the "auto play" does not work.

The installer does not pop up a few moments after I insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive. But, I can access the CD's contents, though only explore it using the explorer window.

#1 How do I install the drivers using the installer CD now? Is it possible to install the drivers without having to go through many tens of folders and double clicking on each and every file on the CD?

#2 Soundblaster website only has upgrade drivers. Can anyone point a direction to get the full version drivers for the Audigy card?

For example, an input of "Audigy Family" and "Windows 98" on the soundblaster website gives:

"Be sure that the Sound Blaster Audigy Card and the installation CD are both INSTALLED BEFORE running AUDRVVXD.EXE"

Edit: Or should I just request Creative to send me another CD after I send in the one I have?

Go for the new CD...or buy an audigy from best buy, install the drivers, then return the audigy much faster

You can`t click on the setup icon?...if not it`s possible you`ve a bad CD so contact CL they will tell you what to do.

if you try and contact creative expect either

no response or something like its your fault and you dont know what your doing


and you need to go into the ctrunX folder and click the red triangle that says start

Although I won't do the Best Buy trick , I will definitely try and access the ctrunX folder, and get the driver to install.

Amazing, the installation CD worked today when I popped it into the drive. Thanks for helping me out though.

I understand the "start" file in the ctrunX folder gets the installation going. Anyone know how to figure out which file in a CD gets the process going in case the CD autoplay fails?

Creative would help out a lot of their customers if they had the entire drivers, not just the upgrade ones on their website. They don't even need to host the additional software, only the drivers on their CD.

The current industry "standard" seems to be either startup.exe or setup.exe. So just fire up windows search on the CDROM looking for either of those two.
