audigy fun!!!!!!!!!

recently (aka xmas) i got an audigy xgamer. it sounds great (for the most part) on my ACS54's but whenever I use and of the EAX, FX, ENV, or EQ settings, all i hear is clicks pops and scratches, so loud and horrible i cant even heat the music (or sound). this happends in every mode except Normalize, and Concert Hall. has anyone had problems like this or seen a fix?

specs:
Pentium 4 1.3GHz
640MB Samsung PC800
Asus P4T
Gainward GeForce2 Ti
XP Pro

PCI Slots:
1- Empty
2- Pinnacle DV200 (OCHI 1394 controller)
3- Netgear FA311
4- Audigy
5- Empty

i am using the most recent drivers for the audigy (as of xmas) and the nvidia 23.11's, everything else is the drivers that came with XP

Hmm, I don't know if I should get a sound card. I don't do much gaming (occasional starcraft and fps games). I am very music oriented (classic, rock, r&b) and I have composed songs on my computer (although I don't do this anymore AT ALL). I was wondering if getting this card is worth it. I am currently using AC97(onboard) on my ECS K7S5A.

i like it for the most part. im not sure where my problem lies so i cant say that there is a problem with the card itself. i do know this is a major step up from my montego ii

On my old abit mb with my sblive if I put it anywhere other than slot 2 or 3 it doesnt work well. PCI slot 1 is shared with the agp vid card, slot's 2 and 3 are 32 bit busmaster slots, all my other slots share irq's with other devices. I think the audigy is similar to the sblive in that it doesnt like to share irq's even though there's no conflicts in the device manager.

not really, it slightly less clickey, but still not to audible. is there some sort of issue with i850 and audigy?

UPDATE!!!!!!!! i checked IRQ's and the audigy is all alone on 10, but since i assigned all new IRQ's last night, and the pci order in the bios isnt the same as it is on the motherboard, i have to reassign again. but the audigy only pops on lower freqs now so the solution is closer .

ANOTHER UPDATE!!!!!!!! after re-re-assigning the IRQ's the audigy works great. now there is only 1 mode i cant use.

Just in case you are still having problems with this..
I had the clicking/popping problem when using digital out only with FPS 2000 speakers (4.1). I found that I had to go to the Audigy Device settings and change the output from 48 Khz to 44.1 Khz (I believe those were the numbers - not home now). This fixed my problem. Apparently not all speakers can handle the higher frequency output which seems to be the default for digital out on the audigy.
