I am putting together something for one of my courses, and I'd like to know what company sells the top of the line, most expensive audio equipment available.

Please list the company and how much a set of towers would cost.

You'tr gonna have to dig a little. Just asking folks to post a price list doesn't exactly qualify as research. Go to stereophile, audiokarma.org. audiocircle.com and just basically search. Martin Logan makes expensive speakers. So does B&W. there are speakers that are only built to order and very expensive. MacIntosh makes expensive gear but so do a lot of other companies.
I can't believe you actually asked for a price list, model# and cost. Like sombody's actually gonna do the work for you. Google...

I found the German Physiks $250,000 Gaudis tower.

Claims to be the most expensive in the world.

The Kharma Enigma is the most expensive pair of speakers I can think of at $1 million (picture is of system in some guy's "cellar" in Belgium:

Wisdom makes an expensive set:

That 2-channel set is $600,000.

Acapella Speakers Sphaeron Excalibur at $325,000

Magico Ultimate at $229,000

Wilson Audio (makers of the $225,000 WAMM speakers) is apparently designing new speakers codenamed Arabesque, which rumor has it, will be >$300,000. I absolutely love their Alexandria X2.

Set of towers?

You could make your own much more expensively. Start with the Accuton pure diamond dome tweeters, move on to overpriced speaker cable and such.

Actually the high end of the high end doesn't even use a voice coil or diaphragm any more. Amplifiers are water cooled and often powered on dedicated lines running to a utility substation and listening rooms are built with similar specification to nuclear reactor containment!

Get the checkbook ready and the 10 digit calculator you're going to need to balance it! :shocked:

I can't make electrostatic speakers and their supporting electronics at home.

In my experience, DIY is a must for subs, but a bad idea for everythign else.
