how common is it becoming for the original mastering (both music and movie audio) to be no longer archived?
doesnt IP actually make it so the original masters are less likely to be destroyed and more likely to be kept forever? that is not a good reason to keep IP though because the Conservative publishers need to quit profiting off the State... they need to learn that they dont have an inherent right to ideas.
then i guess a utilitarian excuse (for those who like to ignore morality) would be that the new masters are produced all the time and may sound better than the originals... all thanks to digital processing advances.
but i just miss the days when i used to smoke weed in the amphitheater so that i could get maximum enjoyment from hearing original recordings... and nothing would beat Saturday night or a rainy day at movies seeing the original film having fun with folks, family, and friends even if i wasnt high(you know that moving pictures dont inherently look better while high unlike how audio inherently sounds better when high).
