This is my first build with an ABIT IP35 Pro. Its so fast and worked right out of the box. I had no issues at all, posted the first time. I have 2G of memory installed, a 500 watt ps, and an E6600 Intel processor. This setup is fast!
I have Klipsch 5.1 speakers. I've used them for a few years with my other computer and they work great. But when I play audio from my new computer - be it Itunes playing my mp3 collection, YahooMusic with streaming audio, or even Windows media when I play a video - it stutters, then shrieks - sometimes right away and sometimes after a few songs. When it does play, it sounds great.
This happens whether I am using onboard 7.1 sound or my pci sound card.
I have checked all the settings in the software. I have removed a nearby pci card. I have tried the card in another slot. I've adjusted the hardware acceleration, I've checked all of the connections to the pc and the speakers. I've checked for hardare conflicts. Nothing makes any difference.
The only thing I haven't done is flash the bios. There is a new version out in July, but I have never done it before. ABIT support so far is useless. I have sent three emails so far with no reply. The directions for flashing the bios were written by someone who doesn't speak English very well and make no sense to me in couple of places. I formatted a DOS-bootable floppy, but when I tried to add the bios files, they don't fit!
I know this is long winded, but I've tried everything I can think of and have hit a wall. I don't want to send my motherboard back, do you think I need to? Do you think updating the bios might help?
TIA
