hey there..
I've been using MMJB till now to rip my cds into the computer.. I've recently heard that the sound is getting worse while ripping (that's understandable, but the sound is weak, low volume).. I'm wondering, which programs are you using? or, what settings do I need to change on MMJB to make it sound better (I want 192-320KBps encoding)..
any help is appreciated, thanks alot.

(I also have AudioGrabber, AudioCatalyst and somemore, but I think they don't get to 192KBps)..

I just started using AudioJukebox and I'm pretty happy with it. I mostly like it because it can intellegently handle song names -either via a CDDB or by analysing filenames or id3 tags. It's 20 bucks online-download for the full version. The eval version will still do rips though.

If you want to put in a little time with "some assembly required" checkout LAME and the various apps that use it.

IMO.....MMJB sucks. I used to use it at version 5, and quit when version 6 came out and I even have a lifetime upgrade for free.

Audio Catalyst is ok ,but some lhere hate it....I used it for a while too and liked the normalization features.

But....all of the bought software didn't compare to CDex when I started using it.... and for a lot of ppl....it works fine. It did for me---until I learned about EAC.

Exact Audio Copy is my method of choice from now on. Rips the Wav from the cd bit by bit w/ multipass for error corrrection----rips from the hd wav to the codec of your choice (I use Lame MP3 still but I use the preset alt-preset extreme for VBR over 220kbs).

THere's also Monkey's Audio which is a lossless compression scheme but I haven't messed w/ that since my MP3CD player only plays WMA's and MP3s.

But----I've recentely deleted all my ripped MP3s and am starting over w/ EAC on all of em b/c it does make a diffeerence especially on scratched CD's

hmm.. I've both CDex and EAC on my proggies stock.. EAC only rip it to WAV? I can't do that, only 80GB hd.. hmm.. CDex can rip to 320 and 192? that's nice, I'll give it a try..
thanks for now

EAC will rip to wav first and then use an external compressor that you specify to rip to whatever you want.

mp3, mp3pro.....etc.

As long as you have it setup properly, the .wav is seemless. I have it set to delete my .wav files automatically after external compression to .mp3.
