Audio/Video stuttering problem...?

This has just started recently and I don`t know why...when ever I have Winamp or some other audio/video device playing and I close web windows or exit outlook express ect. sometimes the sound/picture stutters.

It`s not that bad (but it never used to do this), it seems to be getting a little worse every week or so... I`ve tried to defrag the hard drive, but that did nothing. I am starting to think the hard drive is about to crap out on me.

Any thoughts?

i have similar problems, but i'm almost sure it's my ATi drivers (all in wonder 128pro)...have you tried updating drivers and switching some pci slots in case of irq trouble?

Well, no I have not tried to move PCI slots around, because I have not added any new equipment...and it wasn`t doing it before....I may just have to reformat my HD.

With a 400 Celeron, it sounds like you are running out of resources. My mothers PC does the same thing. Although it has done it since it came out of the box. I think her problem is not enough memory. My suggestion would be to knock out any programs running in the background. If you have recently installed any software, you may also have a program running that is memory or processsor intensive. (Stealing cycles). Good Luck....
