I'm having some trouble with Audiocast (ver 3.0.1) on my home stereo system. The device seems to work OK on the 2.4GHz band, but I would like to transfer it to operate on the 5GHz band. My router is a Netgear R6300. I am able to communicate with it using my Android phone and also an Apple iPad. I can use either of these, running Spotify, to successfully play music.

As I understand from Audiocast's somewhat sparse instruction sheet, what I am required to do is to enter the Audiocast device's setup, which the instructions say to use the phone (or the iPad) to connect to a wireless network named "Audiocast_XXXX", and after joining this network to use a browser and go to IP address 10.10.10.254. According to the instructions, this should get me into the setup screen for the Audiocast device and allow me to configure it to operate on the 5GHz band instead of the 2.4GHz band.

Here is the problem: whether I use the Android phone (Chrome browser), or the iPad (Safari browser), to attempt to go to 10.20.10.254 the result is a "connection_timed_out" message. Both the phone and the iPad appear to attempt to connect for a minute or two, but a connection is never made and the "connection_timed_out" message is sent.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or if the device is at fault. For anyone with experience with this device, I would certainly appreciate your advice. Please help if you are able. Thank you

Since it is working on the 2.4 band, I'd guess that your router gave it a different ip address. Log into your router, and look at devices under wireless. Hopefully you can tell which device is the Audiocast, and get it's ip address.

Muadib,

Thank you for the prompt response.

I am certainly not an expert in this matter, but I think that the IP address "10.10.10.254" is reserved for a LOCAL network. I think that the Audiocast device is expecting to conduct its setup operations through that LOCAL network.

I think that the Audiocast is using the IP address that the router has assigned to it (in this case 192.168.1.9) for its "normal" operations; that is, to receive the Spotify music from my Andriod smartphone, and therefore it will not use that IP address for its setup operations.

I don't know.........what do you think?

If you type 192.168.1.9 in a browser, you should get the config page. You should then be able to make your changes. Keep in mind that it might have a password, that you might have set.

Well, yes I have tried that with both the Chrome browser and also the Microsoft Edge browser. Both return an "unable to connect" message.

no, I have tried to reset by disconnecting the power, but still not able to access the setup & configuration, although it works fine on the 2.4 GHz band and plays the music from Spotify just fine. The problem is that I want to configure the Audiocast device to use the 5 GHz band, but I cannot access the setup & configuration to do that.

In looking for the manual, I’ve learned that audiocast doesn’t support 5GHz networks.

Thank you for your efforts, but I found an email address for the manufacturer and have written to them for assistance. Hopefully they can answer my questions.
Again, thank you for your help.

Just saw on their website that you should be able to change to 5GHz WiFi once the device is setup the first time. What happens when you use the app?

Hello. I am not sure where to start a new thread on AudioCast.. but...

I keep losing connectivity to the casting devices, or the WiFi, and I think it correlates with mu phone screenlock coming on. Is that a thing? Should I just turn off the phone lock while i use this?

Thanks!
