they started to suck anyways.

i wish someone could just make something like napster, nice interface, easy interface, and easy to get the bitrate that you want.

and something that the RIAA couldnt touch.

i can dream...

Kazaa's not down. As a matter of fact, I'm testing it by downloading a ton of stuff right now.

Ummm........yeah........

It's still up. P2P rules

Well, it's the same concept you use to buy food & clothing, and to pay rent...

the kazaa unix client had promise, but they canceled it. It has some really annoying limitations and im not sure it still works.

Maybe its time i rethink on re-releasing PrivateXfer. I wrote this program that could work without a central network. It was totally peer to peer much like guntella and others. I took teh best of each program and incorporated it. Private tests on a localised network worked great. Infact the tests were a success but its to be seen if I can get it to work on a larger network.

The program was written in Delphi and had cross platform compatiablity with a Java based program being developed. If I do release it a Linux version will come out since I can compile with Kylix.

Anybody want to help me finish this program. The idea of it is that we dont officially release it, put it on some other countries servers where RIAA cant touch it and have people download from there. The beauty of it, we dont declare who wrote what.. so they cant charge us. Plus I aint going to take responsiblty of what my users do with the program. It was made for an local office network p2p file sharing but it should work on the real internet.

Load up the guns boys, time to kill us some RIAA.

Oh and BTW. I use Direct Connect now. www.neo-modus.com

Great stuff. Just takes a little time to learn, but definately a better interface than Gnutella and similar programs. It uses a hub-based method to share files and is kinda like IRC with a more streamlined interface. Definately check it out.

Problem is that P2P does not reduce record-sales. In fact, hen Napster became popular, record-sales went UP. When they closed down Napster, record-sales went DOWN. Yes, there has been a slight drop in sales in last year, but might put blame for that on general economy and to the fact that record-companies have been increasing their prices for years.

The reason why RIAA and other hate P2P is not because it increases piracy (when it in fact increases sales), but because it's an distrbution-method that's out of their control. They don't want to deal with anyone that they do not control.

i will never buy music!!!! Why 15 bucks for a cd... that cost me less than 15 cents for me to make.. and that "expenses for studio time for recording" is crap. If they they decided to drop the prices on cd to 6-7 bucks then i may reconsider.

well anyways... today is a sad sad day.....

u go too far. cds go for 11 bux when they first come out at many stores. if you want to get raped go to barnes and noble or something. as for the breakdown of costs, you have no idea what their costs are. you have no idea that for every album that makes money, there are probably 2 other ones that bombed severely. you don't steal because of ignorance and greed
