There are shows all over, I suggest grabbing The Austin Chronicle (free at gas stations/stores/on the street). It will give you an idea of what is going on. I just moved here so I don't have any recommendations for music locations.

If you get a chance check out the Alamo draft house, there are a few locations in Austin. You can get food and beer sent to your seat at the theater. They play old movies at times also depending on location.

Saxon Pub, Ego's, Antone's, Hole in the Wall, Continental Club. CC has happy hour shows (6:30 I think) that attract a pretty good local crowd. Check out Toni Price on Tuesday, warning it will probably be packed. Plus it's in the middle of SoCo, usually sort of busy no matter what day it is. Although everyone might be tuckered out from sxsw.

edit - don't get confused by some names - Ego's and Emo's are two different places - both might be worth a visit, but Emo's is a bigger place with touring rock acts, Ego's is a very strange place with mostly smaller local acts.

Double check Antone's, it is moving. So tonight may be their last night open for a while. I saw something on the local news about it earlier, not sure if they are closing tonight or if it was last night.

If you are into jazz at all, Ephraim Owens is at the Continental Club Gallery on Tuesday nights. There is plenty of good local flavor to eat all up and down Congress Ave in that area. Or you can hop down to South First St and get the best fajitas ever at Polvo's.

For Tuesday, Toni Price at Continental Club should be a fun time. Sort of a country blues thing, will probably pretty full for an early (6:30) show, it's sort of an institution. All kinds of places to eat and drink nearby.

It's nowhere near authentic texmex, but try to stop by Torchy's. Crazy-ass tacos up in there.

Coffee/Pastries: Mozart's, located on the lake.
Pizza: Mellow Mushroom located on the drag (just my personal opinion).

Any show at Emo's is bound to be good. That, and Stubb's.

2.5 hour total wait, had the brisket, pulled pork, sausage, beans, slaw, and bourbon banana cream pie. Best BBQ I've ever had, and probably by a good margin. It definitely depends on your preferences, but I love me a good fatty brisket.
