I can understand that sentiment given the depravity of the act.

Though executing these 3 would be a disaster because it would be a quick meaningless "solution" to a problem that needs to be more thoroughly addressed.

How many other young kids have similar mindsets to these three?

Where there is lack of opportunity I think you get increased senseless violence. I'm not apologizing for the action of the three, but trying to recognize what led to it and could (has) lead to other similar instances.

So I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and predict that now that its found out this was YET ANOTHER case where gun-toting thugs turned out to be the usual inner city lowlifes, not law abiding citizens (or even better, what they were hoping for, some white gun-toting rednecks) the anti-gun zealots will drop this like a hot potato instead of trotting it out as their centerpiece for why guns are bad.

If anything, it's yet another illustration of why more people need to arm themselves for protection- these kids are a product of the entitlement mentality run amok. The type that thinks they are perfectly justified in running around robbing/killing. After all, most of their heroes in life (rap stars, gang-bangers, poverty pimps, etc) brag about doing similar on national media with zero repercussions, and of course their so-called 'parents' are clueless morons already enslaved on the entitlement plantation.

Saddest thing is- this is probably only national news because the victim was Australian, and it'll be the Australian media that exposes anything. The US media could care less, this sort of thing happens all the time, and most ironic of all, most of the victims are other poor blacks, not white tourists, so according to the lamestream media, who f'ing cares?

1) I was just repeating the word the poster I was replying to used. And I'm not sure why you are saying "why is this tolerated?" when 99% of the time the term "whitey" is being used by the mostly white posters on this board when they talking about black people complaining about whatever.

Lastly, I don't have a problem with anybody. But, it makes me sick to my stomach when I come in P&N (and this was right after the Trayvon ruling) to find 5+ threads about whats wrong with black people complete with posters saying that white people should just "adopt black babies" and other posters talking about how were are all mouth breathing criminals.

Fine, so long as the threat is removed and if they can be put to some value. But locking them up just for the sake of locking them up (or rather for the sake of avoiding the personal, misplaced moral discomfort of shooting them; for the sake of our never-to-be-hurt "feelings") is a self-destructive system IMO. It not only fails to deter future crime, under most systems actually encourages it by paroling violent offenders who have been statistically shown to go right back to violent crimes; and we use it on all too many offenders. Between that and shooting them, shoot them.

Frankly with the workforce potential the prison population represents, our streets should be sparkling, potholes should be nigh-non-existent, and prisoners would learn something they could use to get a real job if/when they got out. But for some reason, this is a pipe dream.

Those are easy to reply to. You can wish to and talk about wanting to get rid of guns. But until that day comes that guns are gone, it makes sense to protect yourself from them. Posting those Obama pics etc just make you look ignorant of real life.

The day guns are gone is the day they wouldn't need them to protect themselves.

Oh, good, I was afraid we were going to have one of those discussions again, after the OP brought up violent video games for no reason...

but the way these kids went about their actions show how desensitized they are to violence and murder. It's likely they played many violent games and watched a lot of violent TV/movies which contributed to them being apathetic and desensitized.

Oh ... ok, um ... I guess ... fuck that then ...

Violence in games and media don't turn people violent, but they allow violent and unstable people to become further desensitized and suppress their conscience which would normally prevent these acts.

I'm glad we established that you're speaking a new dialect of english, whereby some phrases are meant to mean the exact opposite, without being a form of sarcasm - like when, in the 80's. bad meant good and good meant bad -that sort of thing.
